Shenmue 3 enters Kickstarter's top ten most-funded charts

Shenmue 3 has earned a place in Kickstarter's leaderboards.

The Shenmue 3 Kickstarter has now earned $4.4 million, with ten days remaining.

A search of all Kickstarter projects sort by most funded returns Shenmue 3 in tenth place.

It's likely the announcement of a physical PS4 release spiked a boost in increased pledges for this most recent surge. Shenmue 3 edged out Torment: Tides of Numenera to earn its spot. The only other video game in the top ten is Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, Koji Igarashi's spiritual successor to Castlevania.

In the games category alone, Shenmue 3 is in fourth place; the top two projects are card game Exploding Kittens and the Ouya console.

We expect the campaign to make it to $5 million, and possibly more. Creator Yu Suzuki has said he doesn't mind if Shenmue 3 doesn't raise $10 million, although he had described the stretch goal as unlocking a "true" open world game.
