The Witcher 3 Viper School Gear - Where to find the Viper School Armor

Here's where to get your hands on the Viper School Gear in The Witcher 3.

This two part quest sends you to the top of an abandoned castle and then below a haunted chapel in The Witcher 3, and it isn't in vain either, as you'll be able to get your hands on the Viper School Gear as a result of the endeavour.

This page primarily details how to get the Viper silver sword and Viper steel sword that are included in the base game, but we have some tips on how to get later diagrams in the Hearts of Stone expansion. So without further ado, where to find the Viper School Gear in The Witcher 3.

The Witcher 3 Viper School Gear - Where to find the Viper School Armor

West of the Ransacked Village signpost in The Witcher 3, you should see an Undiscovered Location in an abandoned building.

This is the Amavet Fortress Ruins and it's hard to access. You need to make your way West of the question mark and look up at the brick building. You should see a broken wall leaning against the outcrop. From here you can climb up the ruins, but be careful not to fall.

At the top is a bandit camp. Kill all the enemies here and you'll receive one part of the Viper School Gear: the steel sword diagram. Reading the interrogation report here will reveal that you need to find Kolgrim's remains. Kolgrim, it seems, was last seen in a crypt.

You now need to head north of the Mill signpost to the cemetery with the Place of Power and the wraith. Under the cemetery you'll find the remains of Kolgrim and the second diagram for the Viper School equipment: the silver sword diagram. This completes the quest.

Where to get the rest of the Viper School Gear in The Witcher 3

Many school-related sets in The Witcher 3 - such as the Griffin School Gear and Cat School Gear - feature a lot more diagrams than the mere two that the Viper School Gear possesses in the base game, so where's the rest of the set?

The rest of the set - which features armor and more swords - was introduced as a part of the Hearts of Stone DLC for the game. So, you'll need to be in possession of this to find any further diagrams.

With Hearts of Stone installed, you can acquire some Viper School Diagrams from Countess Mignole and the Borsodi vault, but these can only be accessed during the Open Sesame! quest. You'll be able to acquire the Viper venomous steel sword at the conclusion of the quest, but be sure to not miss out on any diagrams before then. You won't find them anywhere else!
