$20 million Australian games funding budget open for discussion

A paper outlining the options for the upcoming AUD$20 million budget for the Australian Interactive Games Fund has been released today.

The document is available for download from Screen Australia, with the Australian development community encouraged to read the paper and submit suggestions on how to allocate the funds in the most useful way.

Ruth Harley, from Screen Australia, and the Minister for Arts, Simon Crean, have expressed that the fund should be "broad in its capacity to both foster growth in existing companies, as well as fund small teams and individuals" reports MCV Pacific. They also list additional ways to offer feedback on the paper.

Crean also commented that applications plan to be called for as soon as April next year. Also that Australia needs to invest in the games industry to keep Australian studios at the forefront of their already internationally recognised reputation.
