Kitase hints at possibility of 3D FFXIII
Speaking in an interview with the official PlayStation community, Yoshinori Kitase has hinted at the possibilty of Final Fantasy XIII being released in 3D.

Kitase and Toriyama feel FFXIII will resurrect Japanese game industry
During a chat with with the EU PS Blog, FFXIII’s Yoshinori Kitase and director Motomu Toriyama revealed that the game may help “resurrect” the Japanese game industry.

Square Enix to lecture on Final Fantasy XIII at GDC
The Game Developers Conference has some of its lecturers listed for the March 9 – March 13 event, and it looks as though Final Fantasy XIII will be featured in at least three of ‘em.

FFXIII producer explains choice of Leona Lewis for theme song
Final Fantasy XIII Producer Yoshinori Kitase has told the Dutch version of Official Playstation Magazine that the choice of Leona Lewis for the title’s theme song was partially due to issues translating the original tune.

Rumor: It’s possible, but for now, no DLC for Final Fantasy XIII
According to a report over on FF-Reunion, the Final Fantasy XIII Ultima Guide contains an interview with Yoshinori Kitase who states that DLC is not being released for the RPG – but at the same time it’s still possible.

FFXIII is “biggest swindle in gaming history”
A Hong Kong magazine has given FFXIII a 4/10 review, saying the RPG is “so linear that it’s little more than riding an amusement park ride.”

Wada: FFXIII could signal death of “this type of game” at Square
The Final Fantasy XIII team may move onto “‘next generation’ forms of play” now the game’s complete, Square Enix president Yoichi Wada’s told Edge, and that “this type of game” may cease to be made at the firm.
The comments are likely to cause shock in the FF fanboy fraternity.

Japanese FFXIII sells over 1.5 million in week one
Famitsu’s confirmed a Japanese week one sales figure of 1,516,532 units for Final Fantasy XIII.
This is for the week ending December 20. The game launched on December 17.
According to this report, the RPG has resulted in almost 250,000 PS3 hardware sales.
The Media Create hardware figures should be awesome. Watch for those next week.

FFXIII sells between 1-1.1 million day one
Firstly, sorry for the lack of updates. We won’t bore you with the details.
Secondly, FFXIII appears to have sold between 1-1.1 million units on its first day in Japan, if this Kotaku report‘s to be believed.
The number apparently comes from a Square statement, but it’s not published in full or linked to over there.
The number doesn’t include the RPG’s Lightning Edition. More than 2 million copies of the game were shipped to Japanese retailers for launch.

FFXIII released in Japan today, and Gamersyde’s been quick off the mark in getting the first 10 minutes up.
What’s left to say? It’s out in the US and Europe next March.

Japanese retailers break FFXIII street date
UFFS has posted shots of what looks to be an early retail copy of FFXIII.
There are images there of the box and some screens of the game itself.
Final Fantasy XIII officially launches for PS3 in Japan on December 17. Everyone else gets it on March 9.

FFXIII gets 39/40 in Famitsu
Famitsu’s given Final Fantasy XIII 39/40, as you can see in this scan on FinalFantasy-XIII.net.
Not as good as Bayonetta, then.
The RPG’s out later this month in Japan. Europe and the US get it in March.
