Capcom has confirmed to Eurogamer that the Resident Evil 7 demo will not actually feature in the full game - it's a standalone experience meant to indicate the direction Resident Evil 7 is taking, much like P.T. was for Silent Hills.

They also confirmed that the man you control in the demo will not be a playable character in the final game.

Resident Evil 7 was announced yesterday, and a demo went up on the PlayStation Store shortly afterwards. Our own Matt Martin has played it, and describes it as feeling like a "fresh start for a tired series".

Resident Evil 7 will launch on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on January 24, 2017.
