Master Chief won't take his helmet off in Halo 5: Guardians

Master Chief won't be showing off his handsome face in Halo 5: Guardians, according to 343 Industries.

Then again, who's to say he's handsome anyway? He never takes his helmet off in-game.

Speaking with Gamerant at Microsoft Canada’s X15 event, Halo 5 creative director Tim Longo said: “I actually don’t even know if I can talk about that. He doesn't take his helmet off."

Other than glimpses of his torso, the back of his head and the side of his face in Halo 4, no one really knows what John-117 looks like. There was a quick glimpse of his eyes masked in shadow, and if you lightened the image, you could see some eyeball glinting in the black holes. You could also see some scarring due to the augmentation process which turned him into a super solider.

343 said back in 2012 it wasn't ready to show the man's face, and it doesn't appear we will see it any time soon.

It's all part of his mystique though, and allows the player to more readily step into the shoes of the SPARTAN-II commando.

Halo 5: Guardians will be released on Xbox One October 27.
