Final Fantasy 14 PS3 users can upgrade to PS4 version from today, early access avilable

Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn developer Square Enix has opened version transfers to PS3 users looking to move their progress over to PS4, as well as opening the MMORPG’s early access phase to owners of Sony’s latest console.

In a press release sent to VG247 today, Square confirmed that early access is now available on PS4 ahead of Final Fantasy 14′s full April 14 launch, and that cross-gen upgrades are now available via the Mog Station.

The company explained that you don’t need to buy the PS4 version to upgrade from PS3, and that it’s a one-way trip, meaning you can no longer play the PS3 build once the transfer is complete. Repeat: it can’t be undone.

To activate the upgrade, you have to register your PS3 build to your Final Fantasy 14 service account then visit the Mog Station to initiate the switch. Then, all of your account data, characters, in-game items and more will be moved over to the PS4 version.

To play the PS3 build again, you’d have to buy another copy, so be careful.

The transfers are on offer until December 31, 2014.

What if I had a character in the ps4 beta version that carried over. And I bought the ps3 version to transfer the license over. Could I still play my ps4 character?
