Final Fantasy 15 will also be released on Xbox One

Tuesday, 11th June 2013 17:39 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Final Fantasy 15, which was shown during the Sony E3 press conference last night, will also be released on Xbox One Square Enix has announced.

The game is being developed with Direct X 11, which the firm said makes it possible to “port the title to various hardware.”

Don’t expect the game soon, as Square said its not scheduled for the current financial year. This means it will release sometime after March 31, 2014.

Final Fantasy 15 is Final Fantasy Versus 13, and will also be made available on PS4.

Thanks, OPM.

The fanboys are going to lose their minds on this one. I’m pretty sure KH 3 is coming to the Xbox one.

But the Internet told me that Sony won E3.

I’m more concerned that they’ve made a stupid breaindead button mashing beat ‘em up a core FF title. RPG fans such as myself will probably be livid. I know I am.

Why is this even an issue?

@1 They did. Newsflash: It had nothing to do with exclusives.

In other words: We live in the multiplatform world.

@1 – Not really. Only a moron would be buying the Xbone anyway, after yesterday, and it’ll sell more on PS4 anyway, like JRPG’s always do. I doubt anyone outside of PS3Fanboy will even care. This isn’t like the 360 days when that system’s very limited specs held back the PS3 versions of multiplatform games. Now, while the PS4 is technically a more powerful system than the Xbone, it’s not like anyone’s going to be able to tell with early games like this.

I’m just amazed that it seems that FFXV is indeed also coming to PS3.

I just find it funny how people get so upset over things like this. I guess people really don’t understand how expensive it is to make a game nowadays. These third party developers have to make their money back somehow.

    Moron buys xbox one
    pirates buy PC
    kids buy Wiiu
    Gamers buy PS4

Not unexpected, since Sony didn’t explicitly say that it’s PS4 exclusive.

I’m just asking a simple question, so please don’t blow a fuse. :D

Why does someone have to be a moron to buy it on the Xbox One? If they choose that system to be their next generation platform, what’s really the issue?

    That’s it.

Cool, cos I’d like the option of buying a lower res, wobblier frame rate version rather than the ps4 one.

@12 There isn’t one. It’s just platform wars all over again.

Though in fairness, the Xbox One complaints are a little more legitimate than simply format bias. Still, I’m not going to lose sleep if one of my friends buys one. I’m going to inform him about the serious Internet-based limitations, but its entirely up to the individual and their own personal needs at the end of the day.

I’m certainly not going to call someone “an idiot” for the decision. The Xbox One simply doesn’t work for *me*.

@1 they every sony fanboy knew about it last night … daaah the only console exclusive is FF14 which also on PC and to top on that not a single Fu#$ was giving due the respect we got from sony at show their full support for us not some greedy publishers

MS will get love from the 3rd-party but until the base install of the ps4 >>> x1 then things will change ”such as time exclusive dlc and sh!t will die”

“Final Fantasy 15 is Final Fantasy Versus 13, and will also be made available on PS3 and PS4″

Where is VG247 getting that this is gonna be on PS3?

The source for this article says…”It’s also next-gen only, and coming in 2014″

What is the source for the claim that it is coming to PS3?

Joystiq has also said FFXV will be on PS3, but they didn’t list a source either.

Sony don’t have the support of publisher because of their politic about second-hand games. So they can’t have a exclusive game from them but they have many studios.

    #21 2 years ago
  22. Clupula

@16 – First, didn’t you say you weren’t buying either the PS4 or the Xbone? And second, why do you care? How does it effect you? If enough people buy the PS4 version that it becomes a waste of money to buy the Xbone version, then eventually things will go back to being PS4-exclusive. Look at the PS3 HD remasters. Took long enough for Squeenix to realize where their bread was buttered, but they eventually saw it.

Stop being a fanboy and just enjoy the PS4 version…if you’re going to break your oath to not buy that, that is.

i have a feeling, a nasty feeling, sony did hold back some really great stuff for tgs (demons souls2?, agent?, last guardian? something new…???)

  24. Clupula

@12 – Well, because you’re paying $100 more and dealing with more restrictive policies, all for a tiny handful of games that will be exclusive. If you’re the type of knuckledragger that cares for Halo so much that are willing to pay more money to do it, while being routinely nickle-and-dimed, then you’re dumb. Sorry. That’s all there is to it.

@21 well , Deep Down is a PS4 exclusive so far.

  26. salarta

I’m still looking forward to this more than any game out of Squeenix in the past ten years. Sure, I’m disappointed that it doesn’t look like it’s turn-based, but the fact that all signs point to it actually deserving to be called a Final Fantasy game for its story, its atmosphere, its concepts and its themes trumps the gameplay concern.

@15 – I often tell my friends when they’re being stupid. It’s why they like having me as a friend. I don’t pretend with people I care about or try to spare their feelings when they should know they’re being idiots. I also expect my friends to do the same of me.

@25 – If it remains one, it will be interesting that Capcom would appear to be one of the few bigger third parties embracing console exclusives.

@25, yeah where was deep down? that one looked so awesome but it wasn´t confirmed as exclusive or was it? the dd in it (it was a working title) makes this almost 100% a dragons dogma breed. or donald duck but i don´t think so.

Will this release on PS3? Only FF can do tht to me only FF.

This and KH3 are instant buy. I’m screaming full of joy like a little school girl! :P

But still I’m a bit perplexed, why do they make FF XV and KH 3 multiplatform but FF X/X-2 and KH 1.5 Remix HD PS3 exclusives? Don’t they want more people try the series so they would buy the new ones too?

    #40 2 years ago
  41. Eddie Rodrigues

@40 I’m a bit disappointed. Either it should be a PS exclusive or they have to release on PC as well. Console only titles are losing such a great market.

    #41 2 years ago
  42. salarta

@40: It’s part of how they do things for old games. Any time they do a port or remake, and usually (but not always) any time they make a sequel, they stick to the company it was originally released with. FFX and FFX-2 were released exclusively on Playstation 2, so it’s staying exclusively on Playstation for consoles, and same goes for Kingdom Hearts.

“Oh no, the great-looking game I’m really looking forward to will now be enjoyed by even more people – that sucks! Fuck you Square Enix for making this game available to more people than before!!”

In what kind of crazy, fucked up, selfish and greedy world does that sentence even make sense!?!?!?

    #43 2 years ago
  44. Eddie Rodrigues

@43 with all due respect, Xbox owners are most likely going to grab stuff that came from North America, and to mention it again, if they (SE) want a wider market they ought to announce a PC version too.

@42 MGS3 was also an exclusive. The HD version launched on 360 and 3DS too.

  45. SplatteredHouse

I’m delighted to see that Versus, the fantasy based in reality, the story of Noctis is again in the spotlight. That it will be available. That Square Enix think enough of what is there to have set it to be a core, numbered FF. Surely, that means more. And if more eyes get to see, more players will play and react, and maybe, there’s influence towards the Future of Final Fantasy – then that’s fantastic, too! :D

    #45 2 years ago
  46. salarta

@44: I was referring specifically to Squeenix, not video game companies in general.

  47. Gnosis

To actually talk about the game itself: …I kinda missed the modern setting, the sky scrappers and cars in the trailer. It was full with palaces, city build on water and all that shit again. Did they change the setting now? Cause I liked the old one better. There was more reality in the whole “fantasy based on reality” thing, if you know what I mean.

oh please !! stop this PS VS Xbox thing , every news there is a fight , anyway what does it mean ” The game is being developed with Direct X 11 ” this mean it could be ported to PC , or just related to in house development ?

  49. Rafa_L

On topic, I think FFXV being multiplataform was expected.

About Xbox vs PS. Personally, I wouldn’t have a practical problem with any of the xbox restrictions, I’m always on, I wouldn’t suffer if I couldn’t play because net was down for a while, I never buy or sell used, I do occasionally borrow or rent, but that wouldn’t be a great loss.

But I’m Sony all the way because of what I stand for as a consumer.

I hope Sony does better than Xbox as an statement for consumers, but I also want Xbox to prevail so Sony is never in the position of making choices for me, I’m all about the new xbox functionalities, as long as they are a bonus, not mandatory.

  50. SplatteredHouse

@47: The thing I think about that, is that they were trying to show more of FFXV than they have before. If you look back at the earlier trailers, you can easily identify that the scenes are long, cinematic in style, and they’re in similar locations -there isn’t a great deal of variety in the shots seen- and I am eager to see that city in a playable state, it was the first of Versus that was seen. The visual design I find to be very strong. But, also remember that Noctis left the limo. We’ve seen him encounter the woman in the dress at night, in that beautifully depicted sequence.

I think they just wanted to offer more of the game, and I think they accomplished that. The optimist in me hopes for playable code accessible to the press at TGS – where, hopefully, the KUF2 picture also becomes much clearer. But now, it was great to see this game, once again.
