Saints Row 4 rumored for August, Deep Silver talks “huge” plans for PAX East
Deep Silver has something “huge” planned for PAX East, and the buzzing on Twitter points to possible news on Saints Row 4, which the firm’s parent company picked up during the THQ auction.

According to a tweet from the firm’s Aubrey Norris: “Dear Media: You’re going to want to be at PAX East this year. If not, you’re going to be missing out on something HUGE. Just FYI!”
Lots of poking and prodding from her followers yielded nothing; however, a tweet from Chris Stockman, who was design director on Saints Row 1 and is currently lead designer at Human Head, tweeted he’s heard “around the campfire” that the game is slated for current-gen consoles in August.
While it’s entirely possible that some news regarding Volition could be announced during the event, GTA 5 is set for a September which would put SR4 on retail shelves a month before Rockstar’s release. This would either be an odd move on Koch’s part or a very ballsy one.
We’ll all just have to wait and find out what Deep Silver has in store for the world March 22-24 when PAX East invades Boston.
Thanks, SplatteredHouse.

Ok, let’s do a Pat dare then: I’ll eat my own pants if this releases a month before GTA V.

Notch is unlikely to ever fund Psychonauts 2. Pat won’t eat his pants.

… which just sucks on all levels.
At least we can hope that the game being teased by Avalanche right now isn’t Just Cause 3, in which case we still have a chance to make Steph eat her socks.
The lead designer of Psychonauts is at Valve now. It’s weird how things work out.

I doubt they would have a new game ready within less than two years especially with all the crap that went down with THQ and they want to throw down with GTA V?! They want to destroy themselves.

Who cares about GTAV when you can have Johnny Gat?
Because SR4 will still feature the Gat, right?
RIGHT?

hope they do not rush it just to release before gta5. I will not buy SR 4 if it is as buggy as Gothic 3 by the time of release. That was a real Desaster :/

@6 Do not see how that is possible considering what happened in SR3. Like others are saying it takes guts to launch a month before GTA V let alone launch on the same day (Killzone Mercenary). Lets hope that this new Saint row heads back to its roots, because SR3 was too silly for me.

@11 Now THAT is something Volitions shouldn’t do, going back to its “pretentious GTA-clone” roots.
If they try to ship a GTA clone 1 month before GTA V the game will fail hard and the IP will be lost.
I hope they stick with their “badass self-ironic open world action game” direction from SR3, because we need more “funny” games rather than “serious ones”.
You know, funny games are art too.

@12 Yeah well that is just my opinion i had a lot of fun with SR2 and i enjoyed watching the walkthrough of SR1 would of played it if the PS3 Port was not canned. I guess its a difference of opinion. I agree that we need more funny games SR 1+2 Were fun in there own way but playing SR3 it just didn’t have that same feeling when playing SR 2.

When Jason Rubin came on board of THQ, the team at Volition was working on new DLC for Saints Row 3 but Rubin told them to turn that new DLC into a full fledged game. Seems like Koch media is following his lead by turning the SR3 DLC into the full blown SR4.
