Yakuza 5 screens re-introduce the Tojo clan

Wednesday, 22nd August 2012 06:47 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Yakuza 5 brings back some of your favourite gangsters; see them in all their sharp-suited, moderately sociopathic glory through the break.

The screens come courtesy of Andriasang and show Goro Majima, Daigo Dojima, Yuu Morinaga, Masato Aizawa and Minoru Aoyama.

Additionally, this week’s Famitsu reveal players will learn new moves on their travels, as in previous games, but these will now be accompanied by side-stories.

The PlayStation 3 exclusive hits Japan before the end of the year but has not been confirmed for localisation.

Interested in the Japanese mafia after playing Sleeping Dogs. Are these games any good for that?

Given that Sleeping Dogs is about chinese “mafia”, or The Triads, you should know that the Yakuza series is different from the UFG game: in the Yakuza games you don’t drive or move in big cities, instead you move in determined districts of one, two, or several cities (depends on the game) doing story missions, side missions or enjoying the numerous past times that the game throws at you, such as the hostess bar, the arcades, the baseball and so on.

Moreover in the Yakuza games you don’t control a police infiltrator, but full fledged gangsters from a number of Yakuza clans, and also a crooked policeman (Tanimura) in Yakuza 4.

TL;DR: the Yakuza series is not an open world action like Sleeping Dogs, don’t expect to find similarities if you decide to look at it, and also don’t forget that it’s also a PS3 Exclusive.
