Rockstar San Diego collaborating on GTA V, says CV

Wednesday, 30th May 2012 11:49 GMT By Johnny Cullen

Rockstar San Diego is collaborating with Rockstar North on Grand Theft Auto V, a LinkedIn CV of an ex-employee has said.

The profile of Jonathan G mentioned he had worked on “Grand Theft Auto 5 at Rockstar San Diego” alongside other recent work at Insomniac Games on Resistance 3.

RSD had last worked on Red Dead Redemption. It’s also the creators of the Midnight Club series.

Rockstar North has been the only confirmed developer to date on the game, having done all the main installments in the series so far.

The company has collaborated on past projects before, though, Most recently is Max Payne 3, which was handled at Rockstar Vancouver, but was advertised as a Rockstar Studios production.

GTA V still has no date or platforms. Don’t expect E3 to give any answers next week neither.

Thanks, Videogamer.

It sure is taking them long to show anything new other than that debut trailer. I could be wrong, but when they announced GTA IV with the debut trailer, it didn’t take this long for new previews, shots, trailers to come out. But with this one, boy are they staying silent. Making it’s gonna be a next gen perhaps?

No there was a considerable gap after the initial announcement and then more details from GTAIV. I don’t mind, the less i know the better.

This is nothing new, all Rockstar teams tend to chip into every title they release, just like Ubi Soft and Acti … but not on the scale that they take it to though.

I just want a date, at this rate though it’ll definately be March-May 2013. Never known Rockstar do two big releases in one year. (not counting Bully remake on X360 and Midnight Club)

Man, when they said this was “the most ambitious Rockstar title yet” back when it was announced, they weren’t fucking kidding, were they? I mean, first it was rumored that 2K Czech is helping with working on this game, and now hearing that Rockstar San Diego has possibly had their hands on this makes me think 2 things; 1. They weren’t fucking kidding when it came to ambition, and 2. If this is true, it really seems like they might really be pulling for a late 2012 launch (though wouldn’t be suprised in the least if this doesn’t come till May 2013, as Rockstar has been releasing games in that month for the last 2-3 years). Either way, I’m good. This is one of the few franshises that exist in games that I’d buy for as many platforms as I could play it on, whether it be Playstation, Xbox, or PC.

I would love to see GTAV to be released in the November season, just to see how it performs with so many others.
But at the same time their normal release dates are best as it spreads it out :)

They wont be doing this for next gen as it would ruin sales. Think how many people have xbox360, ps3 now. If this was released for next gen, yeah might help sell some consoles but in the long run, would hurt sales of the game.

67 million sales of xbox360 Plus whateva Ps3 has, a new console wouldn’t sell that many for a long time. Do the math, more xbox,ps in homes now, equals huge sales.

True, but personally i would buy a brand new system for it. GTA is my game man, but you are right about that. I just don’t see it releasing this year anymore though. But that really ain’t that much of a big deal anyway, there’s SO much coming near the end of the year. If they DO release it in october or november, watch alotta games getting pushed to 2013 :)

At this rate there are next to no games left to be released in October and November anyway…

Farcry 3, Borderlands 2, Assasin Creed, COD. There are plenty of games.
