Report – GTA V listed for October release

Tuesday, 10th April 2012 00:57 GMT By Brenna Hillier

We may have a release window for Grand Theft Auto V, thanks to a rapidly-deleted reference on a Rockstar North employee’s list of credits.

Joystiq reports one of Rockstar North’s animators mentioned an October 2012 release date for the anticipated open world epic on both his LinkedIn profile and CV.

Both references have since been deleted, but Joystiq managed a screengrab.

As several observers have noted, a release in the same calendar year as Max Payne 3 would very much go against the grain for Rockstar, and October is already a particularly crowded month, with fellow Take Two child company 2K fielding Bioshock: Infinite.

Grand Theft Auto V was announced with a trailer in November 2011, but Rockstar is yet to give any indication of its release window or intended platform.

    It seems a little early for GTA V to come out then. Not a whole lot has been shown or is known about it (other than the variety of rumours which all point to similar features, mind you), but I guess there’s still time between now and October. The key thing with this return to the series is that they’re bringing the fun aspect back, making it a real-life playground simulator. Count me in :)

    The dots connect, to be honest. It’ll be the 11th anniversary of GTA III and the eighth anniversary of San Andreas at that time. But more importantly, it’s also the tenth anniversary of Vice City and, even more so of importance, it’s the 15th anniversary of the series as a whole.

    And it’s worth noting – until it was pushed a few months – GTA IV was due in October 2007.

    The dots match.

    6 months away is too early to predict a release date for this. It’ll be finished when it’s finished…

    @Johnny Cullen.

    Sounds like you’re trying to force the dots. I get the 10th and 15th anniversary relevance, but 11th and 8th? It doesn’t really work. You could just select any perennial date and and make it work.

    However…I do hope you’re right! Can’t wait for GTA V. Gonna spend some serious man hours on that game.
