Capcom “not focusing on any previous” titles for RE6′s inspiration

Capcom has said the inspiration for Resident Evil 6 doesn’t come from any specific previous game.

The horror’s debut trailer showed play styles reminiscent of both Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5. RE6′s main playable characters include RE4 and RE5 protagonists Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield.

Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi has told IGN that the team hasn’t been inspired by one single previous game.

“We have a ton of respect for the past RE games. The ways in which they were each able to provide unique experiences is incredibly important,” he said.

“With RE6 we hope to create an even greater game than the previous entries in the series. That being said, we are not focusing on any previous title in particular.

“What we can say though, is that we do consider the things we have learned from previous RE games to be really beneficial as we make this new title.”

Hirabayashi said Leon and Chris are leads because of the “focus on the story,” adding there were still “a lot of characters still to be announced, so we hope everyone will look forward to finding out about them and how they fit into the story.”

Resident Evil 6 launches on November 20 worldwide for PS3 and 360.

Translation: “We aren´t concerned about the games of this saga, we are looking for superb games like COD or GOW to deliver our fans an epic shooter experience ambiented on the Resident Evil universe, just like the movies, that are making a lot of money”.

Whatever Capcom, whatever… Megaman is already dead. Operation Raccoon City looks a mess for the moment. DLC is a pain in the ass.

Resident Evil 5 it´s actually a really good game that I played till I took the Plantinum Tropy, but that isn´t an excuse to not say that Resident Evil it´s not Resident Evil anymore.

This game will be good, probaly, I´ll take it (I´ll borrow it, be sure) and it will be awesome. But please, stop eveyone saying it´s evolution when you are the same that condemn the movies.

If tomorrow a game like Uncharted 5 and 6 becomes a massive first person shooter, Im sure that any of us will say “the game needed to evolve, no matter the way…”, right? ¬¬

The trailer was really cool in the first moment. But when you arrive to a part when you see Resident Evil 6 contains monters who appears to be from “The House of the Dead” and this guy (i don´t know if the matter that this guy could be Hunk, it´s a good or a bad new) seems to be like a new Dante fighting with superpowers “á la Alice from the movie”… You know that something it´s a bit wrong.

In fact Capcom, do whatever you want, but you know in fact why im so upset? This IS MY REAL PROBLEM: Stop messing fans saying that this game was suposed to turn back to the ORIGINS when you say right now that you won´t look over any of this saga games, to make your steps. Stop saying that this is the new Dramatic Horror when RE4 and RE5 were already that.

PD: Stop saying Megaman Legends 3 development was a pain in the ass, when you didn´t give a f*ck about Inafune and his game.

Really? The first four (including CV) REs were literally indistinguishable, much like most of their uh, protagonists, and the sixth one was an inferior RE4 with co-op.

I will give this game the benefit of the doubt, i hope they implement CO-OP really well, not like in RE5, something on the lines of RE ZERO, i mean that you play with your partner in separeted sections, each one doing separeted actions, fighting zombies alone, in order to complete a common goal with diferent actions, that will create more tension and frigthening sections IMO.
