GTA III coming to other iOS devices "in the future"

iPhone 4 owners were understandably vexed when they found out Grand Theft Auto III would only be playable on the iPhone 4S and iPad 2, but Rockstar is now changing their tune. Not long after the original announcement that said the game would be exclusive to the A5 processor (which is the chip found in the iPhone 4S and iPad 2) they're now saying that in the future the game will be coming to single-core iPhones. While that's still probably not going to include the iPhone 3G or older devices, but the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 (which are based on the same chipset) should both be getting a version eventually.

Rockstar also announced support for a number of Android phones as well including the Droid X2, HTC Evo 2, LG Optimus 2X, Motorola Atrix, and Samsung Galaxy S2. Android tablets were also confirmed: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad, Motorola Xoom, and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

This could be the first time we'll get a glimpse at what the iPhone 4S is really capable of. We're wondering if the difference in the ports will be slim, or if we'll get to see just how much extra juice developers are able to squeeze out of the new 4S chipset.
