GTA IV PC mod makes game look insanely great
We sat on this yesterday for the shorts, but there doesn’t seem to be too many of those today. So here it is. Someone made an engine mod for the PC version of GTA IV that adds high-resolution textures and some pretty amazing lighting. You can get videos of it below the break.

On console, they would call this a HD-remake and charge you £50 for it…

and it’s just a mod. With current gen PC technology some guy out there sitting alone in the room can make a mod to any console game that can make a previous game look like a children’s toy in terms of gameplay, physics and visuals.
There are a lot of great mods on GTA4. Not only cars.
@2, yeah… or probably charge it with DLC
ahaha.
and + extra DLC with 5 cars.
Exclusively for console children. Oh dear.. Oh dear.

@8, it’s not just one guy. It’s a small team + car mods from 2 popular mod sites.

Is why I generally buy multiformat games on PC, the modding communities are brilliant. ^_^
Does anyone know if it fix the framerate issues and stuff? If so might have to re-install GTA4.

This is what R* should have done with the PC version of GTA4…

This is… amazing! I honestly watched it with my mouth open. This looks sooo much better then the original. I can’t even begin to imagine the amount of work those modders did. Seriously: this is amazing!

VG247, can you PLEASE stop saying “below the break”? I refer you to the below interpretation of a similar phrase – entry 1:

Made all the better to watch for using music by Boards of Canada. These guys have some serious BOC love. Using tracks for both videos.

Does anyone know if it’ll work with Episodes? Or is it tailormade for vanilla IV?
I really can’t be arsed to buy that game on the PC.

@6: “With current gen PC technology some guy out there sitting alone in the room can make a mod to any console game” So why don’t they? Because they can’t. Just shows again how little you understand about modding and technology.

@18, it’s just the original mod for GTA 4, not for DLC stuff. to make Episodes work you need some extra testing so i’m not sure about them.
@19, i talked about PC mods with console games that are ported to PC like GTA 4 professor.

Why reply to a question when you don’t know the answer? I can do that as well: it’s a mod for the original game (apparently, based on what the link says), so I’m not sure it would work with the dlc. Then again, it might work without any additional tweaks.
Speak in native tongue, it would be easier to google translate it than deciphering your attempts at English.
‘ Without using facts, not shit where falling.
Just so smart, so why not president? You suck at a maximum at the gate and ask for kisses vkontaktigah druzhochek. ‘
That was through Google translate. pretty good I ‘d say.

@20: Most of those games never see any good Mod-Tools because they are hard to crack. Games like ME2 for example.

Bottom line of why publishers don’t want codes to be moddable is that 3 million people will always do better than 1 company
then they will NEVER make anything beyond the original purchase price
go figure
