Naughty Dog has posted over on the US PS Blog not only the teaser for Uncharted 3 you saw on EW’s site and through our earlier post, but the news that the game will be playable in “high-resolution stereoscopic 3D”.

According to the firm’s community strategist Arne Meyer,  Drake’s new adventure contains a storyline which will “take you all over the world”.

In Drake’s Deception, our hero will be searching for the “Atlantis of the Sands”, with Sully rumored to be in the “heart of the Arabian Desert. But when terrible secrets of this lost city are uncovered, their journey becomes a desperate bid for survival that will force Drake to confront his deepest fears.”

“Throughout Uncharted 3, you’ll be taken to spectacular new locations around the globe, that will showcase all of the work we’ve taken on to take acclaimed physics, particle and visual effects to a new level, said Meyer.

“Competitive and co-op multiplayer will return as a key ingredient to the Uncharted 3 package, where all of the new features we have planned will combine with our signature single-player cinematic gameplay to create a unique action-adventure multiplayer experience that can only be found in the Uncharted universe.”

Here’s a list of features from the press release:

Key Features:

  • Bigger set pieces and more explosive adventure, driven by Naughty Dog’s signature storytelling and cinematic presentation.
  • Competitive and co-op multiplayer return with brand new experiences and massively expanded feature sets. The UNCHARTED universe provides online players with a unique Action Adventure multiplayer experience, bringing the cinematic elements of the single-player campaign into multiplayer.
  • Nathan Drake can now take on opponents in more ways than before: hand-to-hand combat with multiple opponents, contextual melee attacks, and new stealth options. UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception also features expanded and diverse traversal moves with deep gunplay.
  • Naughty Dog introduces new physics, visuals, and environmental effects. UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception features new innovations in sand, fire, smoke, and water dynamics and effects. UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception will be playable in Stereoscopic 3D.

More information on the game is expected to be released in the December 17 issue of Entertainment Weekly along with the official world premiere at the VGAs on Saturday evening.

Uncharted 3 is confirmed for a 2011 release.

High Resolution? Oh yes. I think i will connect my Ps3 this time to my monitor and will play it.

Now that is going to be a blast. I hope that they won’t screw up the graphics just because of the high resolution.

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon will host the first live gameplay demonstration of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception on Monday, December 13th.
@1, They make 3D monitors now? Or does Nvidia vision compatible monitors work with non pc things? Or do you have a 3D tv that you use as a monitor?

@2 *facepalm* Oh lol… Companies make 3D monitors like for 2-3 years already. but really its started like 10 years ago in 3D
Nvidia is the first in 3D. I bought my 3D monitor in 2009 with Nvidia 3D Vision.

It’s hillarious that some people think that sony is FIRST in this when 3D games like Resident Evil, Batman:Arkham Asylum and etc. are long time in production in 3D

first videocard that supported 3D was 8800 GTS with 3D Vision driver

3d monitors have been around since like, 1995. The console gaming scene lags behind PC by up to a decade. PC has had games in well over 1080p for about 12 years now, and online gaming on the PC started around 1996.

Well if you put it that way, Nvidia made first 3D for PC games, SONY for Console games.

Also @1, make sure the HDMI on your Screen supports 3D. Some monitors do work with Nvidia 3D, but wont work with HDMI for Bluray and PS3.

@3, I knew Nvidia Vision has been out for several years, but i’m not a computer geek so i wouldn’t know that those compatible monitors work with the PS3 the same way the new tv sets do(same as mattrobbo670), i knew Samsung had 3dtv sets out a while before Sony did.

@7 you don’t need to be a geek to know that. http://www.nvidia.com and there is everything about 3D.

Still can’t find any info related to non pc 3D on that page…
Also the 1st 3D monitor released in Australia was in January this year, so anything else prior would have flied right by me.

O.M.Goodness I just creamed my pants. For the guys here who haven’t had the opportunity to experience 3D in a controlled environment (your home….not at the store) then you’re missing out on one of the neatest things to happened to gaming this gen.

CoD:BO looks amazing in 3D. The guy pops out of the screen so real and when you aim down your sight it feels like you’re holding the gun in real life. G1GAHURTZ suck it up and wear the glasses I know you’re going flip out when you play CoD like that.

Super Stardust HD: Best twin stick shooter is 50 million times better in 3D enough said.

GT5 in 3D is the next best thing than driving the car in real life yourself. Enjoy GT5 without the 3D for the rest of the year then go out and buy a 3D TV Jan 2011. Play GT5 in 3D then go tell your friends SONY just released another GT because that’s how much different of a game it is. Then pat yourself on the back for listening to me.

UC3 in 3D…..Will make M$ rushed their next console to market asap because it will absolutely make the 360 irrelevant after 2011. Thats how good 3D gaming is and I’m so glad UC3 is getting that treatment. There are many games I would love to go back in play in native 3D if I could but I’m hoping after the industry sees what Naughty Dog can do they will follow the leader in this industry and start making their games in native 3D too.

“Deception” means being “betrayed/dishonestly or unfairly treated”, right? (English is not my native language.)

  13. Crysis

    It means lie, or trick.
To make someone believe something that is not true.

  14. theevilaires

^ Yup. And that screen shot is a deception too because I doubt the whole game will be set in the desert. Remember the train portion of UC2 (SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN’T PLAYED IT YET: GARRATT) as it traversed from the jungle city to the mountains of Shambala. This game will have many different places to explore.

Remember this is on a Blu Ray….not a DVD ;)

The PS3 slim should of had a BD drive upgrade, installing before playing for the first time is a nuisance, but it’s the same upgrade to DVD as DVD was to CD, unfortunately the original drives in the PS3 weren’t powerful enough to properly stream HD content.

Shit, I wanted 1080p, not stereoscopic 3D. Hope when this is unabled 1080p is possible…or even the old 720p but with lots of filters, effects, maybe a little grain here and there… Other things that gives the game a better texture. Uncharted2 was perfect, it will be hard to beat that mark.

In high resolution? Oh wow, that’s so revolutionary! *roles eyes* All that really matters is whether the game plays any good or not.

I couldn’t care less if it was 1080p, 480p, or running on a 300ft projector, as long as the gameplay is up to scratch. This is Uncharted and Naughty Dog, so I doubt that’ll be a problem.

“In high resolution? Oh wow, that’s so revolutionary! *roles eyes* All that really matters is whether the game plays any good or not.”

Same goes to resolution. It’s important for the Naughty Dog vision.
and it’s a technical achievement for the outdated console

    ^ It also says so on the blog;
“the return of famed fortune hunter Nathan Drake and follows him through a gripping, action-packed storyline that will take you all over the world”…

O.M.Goodness I can’t wait to play this game in 3D! Imagine debris coming at you in 3D while the plane is ripping to parts as its going down.

@6 No, standard 3d (or 120hz) pc-monitors are not compatible with consoles and 3d blu ray players. They cannot transmit the signal properly. The first monitor that is compatible with 3d multimedia stuff (and also comes with a pair of glasses) is the Acer HS244HQ, available by the end of the month for 400 Euro.
