BC2 is absolutely brilliant and totally deserves the no.1. I’ve been playing it all wkend (when the servers have been up) and it is so so good. Maps are consistently excellent…

this is my personal goty. i love everything about it (ok not the ea servers). but the slick design of the menues, the maps, the sound, the weapons, the vehicles, gameplay in general…sweet. i played it for like 17 hours now and still i sometimes can´t believe how deep and awesome the gameplay is. it´s good that it seems to sell well too: longer dlc support and another bc. DICE did an outstanding job here…and i hope they will do the next bfbc too…

On the one hand I completely agree. To see what appears to be a trashy little game (it sits with a score of 48 at metacritic) sell many times more than most of the big name, top scoring games is fairly discouraging.
On the flip side, many people bemoan developers lack of ideas for the Wii, and so fair play to Ubisoft for creating a game which has clearly resonated with the Wii audience.
It’s just a shame that many shoppers will probably be completely clueless about the games quality, and will likely just look at the cover and go, “ohhh, dancing” and part with their cash.

@2 I totally agree with you! The demo was already a blast and now the full game is even better. Played several rounds in Multiplayer and finished around 50% of the single player campaign. This thing delivers!

Lol@8, I’m with you. I haven’t even booted the sp…really not that bothered about it at all.
If this is so good then bf3 is gonna be incredible but lets not get ahead of ourselves…

@5: it’s “fairly discouraging” for a game to be proven to have successfully catered to its core audience, sell as a third-party title on the Wii?
I disagree. It’s instead, a message to makers of “most of the big name – top scoring games” that metacritic does not equal sales, finding an audience, making sure the game’s being talked about and promoted gives a stronger chance of wider success.

yeah. because a casual gamer doesn´t read reviews. that´s kind of what makes him/her a casual gamer…casual gamers suck. haaaaa.

It’s a slippery slope though. It’s never been the case that quality = success, but patting Ubisoft on the back for putting out properly marketed shite isn’t something I’m keen on doing.
Poor old Cing have filed for bankruptcy today, now there’s a company who put out some great Wii (Little King Story) and DS (Hotel Dusk) titles, marketed directly at the hardcore, but their reward is bankruptcy.
When stuff like Lets Dance is dumped onto the shelves and sees such a phenomenal return in investment, where’s the next Cing going to come from, who’s going to put money behind them? This is why many traditional gamers are worried about the success of the casual scene.
We’re in a transitional period at the moment, where gaming is truly going mainstream and if catering to this new audience ultimately proves to be a safer and more popular area of investment for publishers, then you’re quickly going to see the ratio of core/casual games reverse, and seeing Just Dance sit atop of the charts month after month is a stark reminder that the day could be coming sooner, rather than later.
