DICE’s Patrick Bach has revealed that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will have day-one content available through an in-game store at launch.
Containing both free and fee-based content, the DLC is aimed at providing a lengthy “post-launch campaign” for the game.
“We see the game as the first step to a longer experience,” the senior producer told WorthPlaying. “We have an in-game store where you get free content or you can buy new content to the game, so it’s a very integral part of the game that we will have a long post-launch campaign.
“I think people will be thrilled to see what’s in that already. On day one, you will get some really cool stuff.”
Bach also revealed that due to the successful launch of Battlefield 1943 on Xbox Live Arcade, older PC properties were something DICE got a “good taste from” and as far as releasing more in the future – you “never know” what will happen.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is set for release in March on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
There’s a console demo out there to be had if you wanna try your hand.

G1GA, go play more CoD for goodness sake.
As for BC2? I am not loving the demo as much as I enjoyed the first one. Maybe I am comparing the whole game vs just a demo, maybe I have tired of the game/genere, maybe it feels too much like a CoD. I don’t know but for me the Battlefield Magic isn’t there this time around.
I HATE day one DLC, but many games do that nowdays. But if it is ready at launch, put it in the game, that simple. Maybe it will be free, the info leads to some of it being free. But my guess is that it is preorder incentive. Buy the preorder version and it is free, if not it will cost you. Lame.
I am going to let this one go for now. I am still playing MAG(my oldest brought that one home vor me to try), and I enjoy that. It feels more like Battlefield then BC2 does.

EA, I’m fine with you sticking some free extra dlc in games to ensure full priced purchases… but day one paid for dlc that may give wealthy players an edge in multiplayer is just WRONG!

wasn’t there an interview with the lead designer from DICE last week saying that there’s gonna be alot of free dlc including maps and game modes. If the original is anything to go by than there will be alot of free support

BF:BC2 doesn’t have a chance at conquering a stake from MW2 at present. I’m very disappointed that I actually spent the money on the preorder based on what I’ve seen in the beta. Of course it’s just a beta, but it’s very hard to recognize anything from the vids.
I played a lot of BF2 back in the day, but even then it was a mystery to me why you’d include vehicles when they’re basically relegated to the role of an superbly armed, superbly armored soldier in the disguise of a tank. Sadly they’ve changed absolutely nothing. Choppers are fun, but I’d say Infinity Ward made the right decision in focusing on superb infantry combat.
Then there’s the balancing issues, the ridiculous ammount of XP needed to advance, and the big levels to justify those vehicles, which quite often means very long jogs when all the vehicles are taken. And people seem to have a very hard time getting their heads around zones that big. I played one round where 10 snipers were sat on a hilltop sniping an objective they should be capturing, while time was running out. Clearly they had no clue.
The fact that EA might allow people to get an in-game advantage based on the size of their wallets is just that final insult. Personally I’d rather have my money back than give them another cent.

I don’t understand the complaints about this. BFBC2 is going to release as a full game, guys! I’m not even so sure that you can say “People can pay to be better,” because the article says “Post launch campaign.” It sounds like there will be single player missions by the wording, and I would assume that is the fee based content.
Everyone wants DLC but they can’t stop complaining about. Take it or leave it!
