Yakuza 3

Sega’s sent out some new Yakuza 3 shots. Find them below.

The western release of the Japanese gangster game was revealed last month, although no specific date has been thrown out of Sega other then March 2010.

Yakuza 4 gets a release in Japan on March 18.

The third game in the series will keep its Japanese voiceovers and get English subs, and not a western voice-cast as once stated by Sega.

Yakuza shots are properly awesome because Yakuza is properly awesome.

I’m now finding that I’m occasionally regretting not having a PS3. This can’t be good for my future finances.

Yes, it’s a continuing saga. And it’s been out in Japan for well over a year now. And your palms itch because you’ve been interfering with yourself again. Possibly. :-D

Hindle – Like Yakuza 2, Yakuza 3 will have an optional recap of the story at the start of the game so you won’t be missing out on anything! :D

isn’t this one a prequel anyway?

The story is very hard to follow mostly. Well, the more complex of the issues, the game usually does both the layers of deceit and the big over arching “this dude is bad” thing we are used to.

The problem I had was in following who is who because a lot of japanese terms and honorific’s are used as well as yakuza specific terms for ranks.

DaMan: I don’t think it is, you might be getting confused with the other Yakuza “3″ which was set in feudal era Japan.

    It’s definitely a sequel to 2, and 4 is definitely a sequel to 3.

so it’s about Kazuma again? I just remember reading somewhere this one’s plot is about his father or something.

You guys are getting confused with Yakuza Kenzan, a side-story that was released on the PS3 before Yakuza 3. It’s a prequel of sorts that takes place in feudal era Japan and features one of Kazuma’s ancestors.
SO if you really want a chronological order it’s like this: Yakuza Kenzan (PS3, Japan exclusive) -> Yakuza 1 (PS2) -> Yakuza 2 (PS2) -> Yakuza 3 (PS3) -> Yakuza 4 (soon to be released on PS3 in Japan)
