Famistu gives Resident Evil 5 38/40

resi5551b

Resident Evil 5 has been given a whopping 38/40 in this week’s premiere Japanese gaming rag, Famitsu.

There’s not long to wait now: it releases on March 13.

The Famitsu score joins OXM’s 9/10 and Official PlayStation Magazine’s perfect 10.

Thanks, GAF.

They also announced that RE6 is a Wii exclusive.

How’s the campaign going, Tonka? Any major coups? :-)

Rather good. Got a few threatening PM’s from a Japanese guy claiming to work for Capcom. Then there’s the job offer from “Spin Doctors R’ You” (subversive forum stuff).

All in all. Not bad.

Can a 10 given by an ‘Official’ magazine really be described as perfect?

Sure, its not like its the ‘Official Capcom mag’…

It probably was for that month.

Didn’t UK OXM give it an 8? Or did I dream that?

I’ve become totally addicted to everything about this game. Played the demo several times now and I just cant wait much longer.

OPM UK gave it 8/10, which one are you refering to?

The US mag gave it the perfect score.

I thought the demo was dreadful. It did help me see RE4 in a slightly more positive light though, which is a bonus I suppose, but only in the same way parking your old banger next to a Reliant Robin might have the same effect. You’d still rather be driving something else.

It certainly wasn’t to my taste. Neither was RE4.

In fact I cannot see why people enjoy it, I think the one great thign about it is the production values and art direction, but otherwise it’s a pretty terrible shooter (RE5).

As for RE4, I had other games on my mind in 2005.

Wasn’t San Andreas that year?

Pud’s probably referring to SotC. It rather distracted me too.

I guess not :)

It would have dude, but that was 2006 for us Euro’s.

San Andreas was 2004 according to Wikipedia. :-)

I resent the implication that I’m not a ‘euro’. I just couldn’t wait :)

Sorry man….

I was aware of it being released elsewhere first, I just don’t import things, which I just said elsewhere to you. xD

Blerk, shows how much time San Andreas took up. I am kidding though, I meant it in no specific way, RE4 just didn’t catch my eye.

What the fuck! Haha! RE4 is brilliant! Jesus wept, where is all this hate coming from?

Sorry ecu, ignore me I was just being a troll really. RE4 is just one of those games I don’t get all the love for, I thought it was very dated and could have been so much better.

Really, I just hate any game that announces its title with a cheesy voiceover when you start it on principle :P

Haha, Resident Evil style.

Loved the first one, but I didn’t pay any attention to the series after that, strangely.

I am pretty much the same, I don’t get the love for it either. I appreciate the technical achievemnt, wonderfuly lookign game in some parts. And I appreciate the game design, which was very different. Catering very well to east and west.

But it did nothing for me.

I think RE2 was the series highlight for me.

RE 3 was my favourite. the gameplay was brilliant, the mercenaries mini game was the best ever in a RE title and Nemesis was unforgettable :) .

RE2 for sure. Superb game.

1 & 2 were probably the most scary. 3 was more of an action game already.

RE2 was fucking wicked, yeah.

We scored it 8/10 in OPM UK. The US edition gave it five stars. Famitsu’s reviews aren’t always tablets brought down from the mountain, either: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3167832

No Code Veronica love here?

Code Veronica was the most scary, followed by the remake. 1 (and remake), 2, 3, Veronica, 4, they are all sensational games.

Code Veronica was the worst in my opinion. weird game.
