Rockstar’s lawyers really don’t waste time. Following the posting of what claimed to be the world’s first GTA IV review yesterday, all that’s now left of the piece is a smoking hole and the rather curt message, “This site has been removed at the advice of legal council.”
The exclusive for this has to be locked up tighter than Alyona Ivanovna’s pawn chest, so it’s hardly surprising. We’re going to add something to the great list of certainties in life, actually:
- Death
- Taxes
- You can’t beat the internet
- You will get a call from Rockstar’s lawyers

Ta. I’m sure it’ll be fine, but I’ll bear that in mind.

Bit of a shit review though eh?

You’ve only got to mention GTA and the internet explodes.

Mmmm…. gullible.

I’d say the legal notice is just another piece of fake text in order to help legitimise this joker’s ‘review’ in the first place.
Still, gamer’s buttons are very easy to press aren’t they?
patlike said:
You can say that again.
Blerk said:
So is this ‘review’ all bullshit, then? It’s quite poorly written, but are we insinuating that he hasn’t actually played the game?
patlike said:
I have no idea whether he’s played it or not. I do know it created an absolute shitstorm over the weekend.
Blerk said:
Because it was early? Or because he said the PS3 version was “quite good”?
patlike said:
Both, I think. It was perfect flame material, basically.

I thought this bit had plenty of flame potential
“Installing the 360 version on your system’s hard drive, however, will bring performance almost up to par with the PS3″.

Ladies and Gentlemen. I give you: The Worlds Second GTAIV Review.
If you liked the others you will like this. It’s prettier, bigger, tighter, grittier and has more balls than a Tennis tournament.
Although the animation and texturing bears Rockstars trademark crappiness the oomphh in the next gen has enhanced them considerably. Gun play is not spot on but when was it ever? The new cover system makes for far better fights though.
Stubling around drunk on the sidewalk with a buddy and getting into trouble with the law is a hoot.
Voice acting and soundtrack is superb and the popcultural references spot on.
9/10

A few red herrings in there. No reason at all why the Xbox 360 version shouldn’t have split-screen while the PS3 version would. Secondly, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen an optional install on any Xbox 360 game ever - indeed, it may well be against Microsoft TRCs (that said, Microsoft would bend the rules for GTA).
While the review is overly specific in some areas, it’s crucially lacking in stuff that people actually want to know about.
My gut feeling says that it’s a traffic generator piece written by someone who *maybe* saw the game fleetingly at a press event and knows the POWER of Xbox 360/PS3 comparison features when it comes to page impressions…
Oh yeah, and I think that if the review contained no factual inaccuracies and was shorn of those GTA screenshots, Rockstar wouldn’t be able to make any legal threats whatsoever - free speech and all that.

I reckon it’s hooey, personally.

Where’s the confusion? The guy admitted to making it up for his own entertainment.
