The Division 2 Control Points
Control Points will start showing up on your map as soon as soon as you are set loose on the streets of D.C., and they’re well worth paying attention to. They are marked as green or red flag icons, with green being Control Points you occupy, and red meaning the enemy has them. Let’s take a look at the ins and outs of taking down a Control Point in The Division 2.
How to Capture Control Points in The Division 2
If you want to capture a Control Point, head to it, and then note the red area around it. Once you set foot in this area, you will have the option to send up a flare, which you’ll want to do once you’ve made sure you have a good position to take down the enemy. Reinforcements will show up around a minute after the flare, though you should be trying to kill as many enemies as you can in the meantime. A leader will arrive, which you’ll need to take down in order to progress to the final phase. Once they’re dead, you’ll need to defend the Control Point from a wave of encroaching baddies. Once they’re dead, it’s off to the Supply Room to claim your rewards.
The Division 2 Control Points Supply Room
Once you’ve taken a new Control Point, an icon will appear on your HUD, pointing you towards a Supply Room. This is where your rewards are, so head over there and open the door. You’ll find a large orange crate which will award Gear and weapons, and then a handful of smaller crates. The smaller crates will refill every 24 hours, so be sure to check back for more loot.
The Division 2 Resupply Control Points
Control Points aren’t only there for you to earn new loot, they also offer the opportunity to resupply officers. This will be an objective on the majority of Projects you’ll receive, and donating food, components and water will highlight nearby loot on your radar for a brief period of time. To resupply a Control Point, locate the officer, and interact with them. Later on, when your Control Points can be retaken by the Black Tusk, you’ll want to ensure your Control Points are well stocked, because they will be able to better defend themselves.
How to Increase Control Point Alert Level
Once you hit World Tier 4 in The Division 2, you’ll be able to raise the Alert Level of each Control Point. This ensures better loot at the end, though the difficulty will be increased substantially. To increase alert level in The Division 2, you need to complete activities that are connected to the Control Point by red lines. In the image above, you can see a Control Point connected to a Public Broadcast mission. The icon for this has a ‘+1’ indicating that if you beat it, it will add 1 level to the Control Point, taking it to alert level 2. The maximum alert level is level 4.
The Division 2 Control Point Level 4
Once a Control Point is at alert level 4, it is the maximum difficulty possible in the game. Completing it will be hard, but the rewards are great. You’ll also earn Specialization points for completing level 4 Control Points, so they are well worth the effort.
Keep the Control Point Officer Alive
One thing to keep in mind while attacking Control Points in The Division 2 is that the control officer can die. If they do, the Control Point will drop an alert level. As long as they are alive, you can head back to the Control Point after dying to rejoin the fight. The officer will go down first before dying, giving you a brief window where you can revive them.
Should You Solo Control Points in The Division 2?
In our experience, it was perfectly fine to solo Control Points up until alert level 4. At this point, taking them is extremely difficult, though definitely not impossible. We recommend squadding up for this, as it will mean you have a lot more breathing room while waiting for allies to show up.
