Avatar Kinect to release as part of Kinect Fun Labs in July

A Microsoft representative confirmed to Joystiq that Avatar Kinect will be released in July as a part of the recently launched Kinect Fun Labs.

Kinect Fun Labs is a testing ground for developers which allows them to show off experiences for the Xbox 360 which aren't possible inside the standard game world.

Avatar Kinect allows you to control your Avatar’s movements and expressions through Kinect’s facial recognition system, which causes your Avatar to smile, nod, speak, and frown along with you.

The latter technology was revealed at CES 2011 in January, but is yet to see release.

It's not clear whether a promised suite of new chat tools will accompany the launch.
