A new Overwatch hero has already been teased, according to Jeff Kaplan

A new Overwatch hero has already been teased, according to game director Jeff Kaplan.

Support character Moira only dropped last month, but speaking at the 7th annual Funny & Serious Game Festival - where he received an honorary award for his work on World of Warcraft and Overwatch - Kaplan said via PCGamesN:

“One of the things our fans are always curious to hear about is why we tease some heroes way earlier and why with some heroes they just kinda come out and surprise us.

“I think Moira was more in that ‘surprise everybody’ category. We were trying to subtly hint at her: she was in the Doomfist comic, and seeing how fans had glommed onto everything back in the Sombra ARG days, they literally picked apart everything, so we thought they would pick up on that a lot more.”

But when addressing the possibility of a new hero, Kaplan played coy with the details.

“Let’s just leave it at that. A surprise that has perhaps been hinted at,” he said.

Overwatch is currently in the grip of a cold snap, with the Winter Wonderland seasonal event going live yesterday.

The event brings a whole host of skins, sprays and emotes to the game - including Orisa’s exceptionally cute puppy unboxing.

Winter Wonderland has its own new brawl too. Overwatch does its best Evolve impression in the five versus one Yeti Hunter game mode, where a team of Meis work together to beat down a buffed Winston before he can eat enough meat to take them all out with his super.

It’s as silly as it sounds, but fun all the same.
