The San Diego Comic Con panel for The Witcher Netflix series is now online, and it features the cast discussing their roles, and some insight into the production process.
Variety has posted the San Diego Comic Con panel for The Witcher Netflix series online, and while it’s a bit shaky, it is still watchable.
During the panel, actors Henry Cavill (Geralt), Freya Allan (Ciri), and Anya Chalotra (Yennefer) discuss their roles, and the audition process. Showrunner Lauren Hissrich also talks about staying true to the source material, writing the script, and fulling fleshing out the characters.
Cavill also discusses Geralt’s relationship with Roach, and how she’s his “anchor.” Hissrich adds there’s a scene in first episode where Geralt has “a long soliloquy to Roach,” which was a scene friends reading the script thought she should cut. Instead, Hissrich added to the scene.
Chalotra talks about how she went into the audition for Yennefer without any knowledge of the books or the games, unlike Cavill who is a big fan of both. After she got the part, she purchased all the novels and couldn’t stop reading them. She also immersed herself in the games, and everything else she could get her hands on. Chalotra also reiterates this in a cast interview with Entertainment Weekly which we have also posted below.
Freya Allan, who plays Ciri, delves into the character’s background, and shares how excited she was to play a role in a fantasy epic.
You should watch the entire panel, minus show clips and the trailer, led by Yvette Nicole Brown (Community).
