No Man's Sky NEXT - first weekly community event kicks off today

No Man’s Sky NEXT players are getting weekly community events starting today.

The first No Man's Sky NEXT community event takes place this weekend, and players can earn Quicksilver to be turned into handy items.

Over the weekend, players who have completed the first Space Anomaly mission will be contacted by Specialist Polo who will send them to a specific corner of the galaxy.

Here, strange objects "spawning underground" need to be excavated and returned to Polo at the Space Anomaly. Players will be rewarded upon their return with Quicksilver. It will then be handed over to Polo’s Quicksilver Synthesis Companion Bot for processing.

Once processed, exotic collectibles will appear in the player's inventory. The initial range of items number six at present, and encompass new base building parts, three decals, a new emote, and a new character customization.

Hello Games said it plans to expand the list of items to over 50 in the coming weeks. This includes base parts, emotes, customization, exocraft, and more.

The ways in which players will earn Quicksilver will also expand, and community events will grow in functionality.

No Man's Sky NEXT was released on July 24 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
