SnapMap puts the tools in the hands of the people, even if most of them will just end up stacking exploding barrels in a room.
Doom – see how easy it is to create levels in SnapMap
Our man Alex has had some hands-on time with SnapMap, the creative toolset that comes with every Doom copy. Though SnapMap may appear limited at first, the number of variables you have control over is pretty good.
You can create modes like zombie-style survival, tower defence, or even play play basketball with grenades, among others. Of course, if you’re a person with simpler tastes, you could just throw some exploding barrels in a room and attach countdown timer.
That’s what Alex did. You can see this and more in the video.
If you’re itching for even more SnapMap footage, id Software hosted a livestream recently that showed the various aspects of the tools.
Doom is out May 13 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
