Those who choose to watch shows such as Halo: Nightfall or interact with the Halo Channel will unlock rewards in Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Halo 5: Guardians.
Speaking at gamescom 2014 this week, 343 Industries executive producer Kiki Wolfkill the team wanted to create a “seamless ecosystem” which will allow Halo fans to experience “different things together and be rewarded.”
“When you get to the end of a show it will show you all the things you’ve unlocked and experienced,” Wolfkill said. “Another key part of that, is rewarding you for the things you’ve done in the channel and ecosystem.
“So, Halo: Nightfall for instance will have unlocks in The Master Chief Collection and in the Halo 5 beta that will carry into Halo 5 and vice versa.”
Interacting with shows such as Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn and Nightfall and exploring the Halo Channel’s built-in encyclopedia will reward players with various in-game unlocks.
The Halo Channel, formerly known as Halo Waypoint, will be available for download November 11 on Xbox One, Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 8.1.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection will release on Xbox One November 11 and Halo 5 is expected in 2015.
