Pikmin 3 Nintendo Direct: watch it live here

Franchise creator Shigeru Miyamoto and comedian Hitoshi Matsumoto played Pikmin together in a special Nintendo Direct broadcast.

The video showed a captain crash landing on the Pikmin planet, only to be attacked by a monster inside a dark cave. Control then switched to a second captain who then enlisted the help of red Pikmin to help him build bridges over gaps, and push heavy boxes, all using the original Wiimote and nunchuck controller.

Pikmin 3 is headed to Wii U in July; Miyamoto has said the Wii U was made for this game and that it is the ultimate version.
