Dota 2: The International prize pool now over $2 million

By Brenna Hillier, Friday, 17 May 2013 02:05 GMT

Sales of Valve’s Dota 2 Compendium have already pushed the total prize pool for the third annual world championships event past $2 million.

At time of writing, The International’s prize pool is sitting at $2,022,717 – $2.50 is added every time someone purchases a copy of the Compendium.

It’s not yet clear how this prize will be split among competitors, but in previous years the top ranked team took home $1 million.

Although that money will mostly benefit the teams chosen to compete in the event, Valve has provided a number of stretch goals available to all participants.

The Compendium costs $10 and is a sort of all-purpose guide to and community hub for The International, which takes place in August.
