Europe is "priority" for Spore

Speaking here, Maxis's Patrick Buechner has said that Spore's "priority" is Europe, based on the amount of PC sales the company gets from the region.

"Europe probably represents about 60 per cent or more of our PC business, so getting it right in Europe is going to be a real focus over the next few months," he said. "Getting the launch right, getting the game working right here, getting those online features working in Europe... Europe is the priority for Spore."

Spore, Will Wright's long in-development PC oddity, was confirmed last night for a September release. America will see the game on PC, Mac and DS on September 7, while Europe gets it two days earlier on September 5.

Patrick Garratt is a games media legend - and not just by reputation. He was named as such in the UK's 'Games Media Awards', the equivalent of a lifetime achievement award. After garnering experience on countless gaming magazines, he joined Eurogamer and later split from that brand to create VG247, putting the site on the map with fast, 24-hour a day coverage, and assembling the site's earliest editorial teams. He retired from VG247, and the games industry, in 2017.
