Valve will ship its Steam machine prototypes with copies of 4A Games’ shooter Metro: Last light.

Metro: Last Light is now available on Linux, and all who own it through Steam will now have access to the PC, Mac and Linux versions. The game popped up on the Steam database for Linux back in August before it was later confirmed by Deep Silver. The game was released on Mac back in September. The game has also been confirmed to support Steam OS and the Steam Controller in the future.

Deep Silver has embraced the idea of simultaneous PC and console launches, along with open modding support for many of its titles. While some companies are still scratching heads over how to beat PC piracy, the publisher doesn’t feel it’s an issue and that DRM is not the answer.

Metro: Last Light DLC drops today and it’s called the Chronicles Pack. It features three original single-player missions that casts the player as four of the game’s standout characters – Pavel, Khan, Ulman, and Anna. You can explore their side-stories away from Artyom’s adventure when you download the content.

4A Games has recreated a weapon designed by a fan as part of a competition and has released it as part of the latest DLC pack. The Multi-barreled Bicycle Shotgun was created by Alexandre Bannwarth, a first year design student at Wellington University. See some images of the device through the break.

Deep Silver has announced the long awaited Developer Pack for Metro: Last Light will be landing on Steam, PSN and Xbox Live on September the 17th. Costing about $4, the pack is an odd combination of stuff, check it out after the cut.

4A Games has announced that their atmospheric shooter, Metro: Last Light has made its way to the Macintosh and that version is now up on Steam Play. This means that if you own the PC version, you’ve got the Mac release for free. However, being one of the most graphically intense games of the last few years, better check if you Mac can run it after the jump. A Linux version is supposedly coming soon.

Metro: Last Light’s second batch of DLC, the Tower Pack, is now available. The Tower Pack tasks players with fighting their way up through a heavily guarded tower, which is also a virtual combat simulator. Each level is increases in difficulty and is packed with hordes of enemies, mutants and other deadly threats. The Tower Pack will cost $4.99/£3.99/€4.99. It is now available on Steam, Xbox Live, and PlayStation Network. PS3 users in Europe will get it tomorrow. The core game is also 60% off on Steam as part of the service’s mid-week madness sale.

Metro: Last Light has been confirmed for Linux and Mac. The Linux and Mac versions were handled in house by 4A games and will support Steam Play and will receive the same DLC packages as the PC and console versions. The Metro: Last Light Season Pass, and the Faction Pack and Tower Pack DLC will be available at launch for the Mac release , and the upcoming Developer and Chronicles Packs will release on Steam and the App Store alongside the PC and console releases. Expect it to land on September 10.

The Metro series looks set to continue, as publisher Deep Silver says the most recent game Last Light was ‘positive experience.’ They say they want subsequent entries to appeal to a wider range of players.

4A Games has released the Mobius trailer for Metro: Last Light. It was created by Alexander Bereznyak, aka Monakh, who was originally the firm’s capture artist before taking over as lead technical artist. The official Twitter account for Metro: Last Light has revealed that information on the Season Pass and future DLC will hit tomorrow. The DLC is single-player content expanding the world of in the game, and the Season Pass will contain all the content being created since Last Light’s completion. It will also be offered at a discount for those who want to grab it. So, in other words, look out for more information tomorrow.
