“Notch is the games industry’s Justin Bieber right now. Let me walk you through this. Justin Bieber has exploded, and Justin Bieber, as much as many want to hate him, is a very talented guy. If you did a Venn diagram of Minecraft fans and Bieber fans, I’ve no idea what that would look like, but each one via the internet has been born into a seemingly over night success, even though it likely took a huge effort over a very long time. Being like that can help put you in the spotlight. Notch and Minecraft deserve every success they have.” – Cliff Bleszinski on Minecraft creator Markus ‘Notch’ Persson to Develop.

“Xbox Live and PSN, skip both of them because you’re at Sony or Microsoft’s will as to what’s on the dashboard. iOS, maybe, but you have to have Apple’s approval, there’s too much piracy on Android, no one has a Windows phone, Kickstarter’s wonderful, go Tim Schafer. I would go with the PC.” – Epic design boss Cliff Bleszinski, speaking at a GDC session as quoted by Kotaku.

“There’s no dudebros in it. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, right? Creatively for the team, Gears has been amazing for us. But it’s fun to kind of stretch our wings and do something that’s a little different from the usual. It was a project that was pitched internally. I was a staunch supporter of the idea, because the game is just like a no-brainer – I was like yes.”

“I’d say that we’re putting the third game in a series that in many ways helped to define a console generation. Not completely, but if you look at the art style in Gears, and the cover system – I think a lot of games were positively influenced by it. To have that influence on the business is incredibly flattering, both for myself and everyone who works at Epic. [However] we need to remain humble and cautiously optimistic about every part that comes out and hope that it has an impact on the industry. If we ever come out and say: ‘this is gonna change your life, it’s gonna change you’re children’s children’s lives’ – gamers aren’t gonna buy it. They’ll think we’re just a bunch of asses who’ve gotten cocky and complacent. – Cliff Bleszinski to OXM.
