Downloading the free King's Quest episode with PS+ locks you out of a bonus episode - report

If you download the free first episode of King's Quest as part of PlayStation Plus and decide to upgrade later to the full season, you're going to miss out on a bonus episode.

Sony recently revealed the line-up of free games PlayStation Plus members get in December. Among them is the first episode of King's Quest on PlayStation 4.

As with any of these episodic games, when you buy one episode and decide to get the rest, the store offers a season pass option. Season passes cover the rest of the episodes, starting from episode 2. This is also true in the case of King's Quest, albeit with one issue.

For King's Quest, there's a third way you can get everything in one go, The Complete Collection. This collection gives you access to all episodes (1-5), along with an exclusive epilogue chapter available only in it.

All this is well and good until you realise that by downloading the free first episode, you lose the option to buy The Complete Collection, and thus the option to play the epilogue. Nothing is known about this final part of the story, but it's not included with the season pass. This issue was brought up by Reddit user RingmasterJ5.

The Complete Collection's restriction is not just a PSN thing, it's same way on Xbox Live, and Steam.

Of course, Activision could always offer the Epilogue as a separate download sometime after release.
