If you own Hotline Miami on PS3 or Vita, you'll also have it on PS4 next week

Hotline Miami PS4 now has a release date, and it's surprisingly soon - next week, in fact.

Hotline Miami has been available on PlayStation 3 and Vita for over a year, but the PS4 version has been longer in coming.

Now, thanks to the efforts of port developer Abstraction Games, we finally have a release date - August 19 in North America and August in Europe, in line with regular PS Store updates.

What makes this extra exciting is that because publisher Devolver Digital is keen on cross-buy, if you own either of the existing PlayStation versions, you'll have this one automatically too.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Devolver Digital's Fork Parker said the PS4 version isn't just a straight port.

"The team didn’t want to tamper with the perfection that is Hotline Miami for the latest release, but there were certainly some fun new options that were only possible on PS4. Gamers can now use DualShock 4's touch pad to look around and lock on enemies, and actually shake the controller itself to perform execution moves when you have an enemy pinned on the ground," he wrote.

"And to take the violence to the next level, the sounds of those same execution moves are amplified through the speaker on the DualShock 4 itself. Ouch."

Enjoy the trailer below showing off the PS4 version.

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is currently in the works at original developer Dennaton Games.
