Suda51's new PS4 exclusive Let It Die is free-to-play

We still have no real idea what Let It Die is but Goichi Suda has confirmed it's going to be a free-to-play release.

Let It Die was unveiled during Sony's E3 2014 conference, and creator Suda51 has confirmed with Destructoid that it's a 2015 PS4 exclusive.

Suda said the project is a "huge departure" for Grasshopper Manufacture, but apart from saying it is free-to-play and that monetisation has not been locked down yet, gave only a few gameplay details.

It seems the game is survival themed, with various weapon types not restricted to melee. Combat will be quick rather than reliant on combos.

The Grim Reaper will have a significant role in the game, but the main character is customisable by the player. Players will be able to customise their character and will be able to take weapons and other equipment from enemies, which will be created from other players' data.

Going PS4 exclusive allowed Grasshopper to set up the tech behind enemy generation, Suda said, and may allow the developer to host a beta test to harvest more data. Gung Ho's knowledge has proved useful in creating this system, apparently.

Suda is serving as executive director but taking a more hands-on approach than with other recent Grasshopper games, he said.
