The Elder Scrolls Online will not require a PlayStation Plus membership to play on PlayStation 4, according to the developers.

Speaking a developer Q&A on the PlayStation Blog, ZeniMax Online also clarified how the servers will work in the upcoming MMO.

As far as a PS Plus membership was concerned, Zenimax had this to say: “A PlayStation Plus membership is not required to play The Elder Scrolls Online. PS4 players will only be required to pay the same monthly subscription associated with The Elder Scrolls Online that PC and Mac users will pay — nothing more.”

The same cannot be said of Xbox One, as Bethesda confirmed to Joystiq that an Xbox Live Gold membership will be required to play the MMO on the console.

PlayStation 4 players in both Europe and North America will also have regional dedicated servers: “PS4 users will play The Elder Scrolls Online on either the European PS4 megaserver or the North American PS4 megaserver.”

This means that PC and Mac users will not be able to play with other on PS4 players, which ZeniMax said was “good news for PS4 players,” as they won’t have to “worry about contending with higher-level PC players when ESO launches on the PlayStation 4.”

The beta for PS4 is currently without a date or timeframe, but one is expected for the console at some point this year.

Some PC players are currently particiapting in a closed beta.

    And how many PS4 owners don’t have a PS+ sub? They should offer a reduction in sub price if you’re a PS+ subscriber, and i’d be impressed. I’ll most likely be playing this on PC, if i’ll play it at all.

    @1 They might do that since it happened with DC Universe Online when that still had a subscription fee

    probably because they know customers on ps4 are to poor to afford ps+ and they would have no fanbase or profit chance thats why they bought an ps4 becaus they are just cheap customers and easy money for devs low hanging fruit

    @johnapocalypse

    DCU is owned by SOE. If Bathesda were to lessen the subscription it would be dipping into their own profits just because they are on PS Plus. It could be worse where on Xbox One you are forced to pay a subscription for that and ESO.

    Even though the price for either sub is pretty cheap, this still is a one up for the PS4.

    Too bad that game is freaking horrible.

    You know, I’ve always had one question about the subscription model for this. If I buy a subscription on PC, can I carry it over to PS4?

    @X14EVR You probably never seen the film he got his name from due to it being rated R and you seem to act like a 9 year old.
