Speaking a developer Q&A on the PlayStation Blog, ZeniMax Online also clarified how the servers will work in the upcoming MMO.

As far as a PS Plus membership was concerned, Zenimax had this to say: "A PlayStation Plus membership is not required to play The Elder Scrolls Online. PS4 players will only be required to pay the same monthly subscription associated with The Elder Scrolls Online that PC and Mac users will pay — nothing more."

The same cannot be said of Xbox One, as Bethesda confirmed to Joystiq that an Xbox Live Gold membership will be required to play the MMO on the console.

PlayStation 4 players in both Europe and North America will also have regional dedicated servers: "PS4 users will play The Elder Scrolls Online on either the European PS4 megaserver or the North American PS4 megaserver."

This means that PC and Mac users will not be able to play with other on PS4 players, which ZeniMax said was "good news for PS4 players," as they won’t have to "worry about contending with higher-level PC players when ESO launches on the PlayStation 4."

The beta for PS4 is currently without a date or timeframe, but one is expected for the console at some point this year.

Some PC players are currently particiapting in a closed beta.
