Bayonetta 2 Wii U gameplay footage shows insane city battle

Friday, 10th January 2014 09:18 GMT By Dave Cook

Bayonetta 2 had a playable Wii U press demo last year that toured all the big expos and media events. Chances are you read previews about it at the time, but now you can watch the whole thing in action right here.

The clip was recorded by NiNTENDOMiNATi0N, which you can see above battering angelic enemies with Bayonetta’s mad skill set.

I played the game last year too and found it to be quite superb. Then again I do have the hots for the original game, it was the only review I’ve ever marked 10/10 before I stopped giving reviews numbers. Am I mad? Probably.

Bayonetta 2 is out this year on Wii U.

Thanks Monkeygourmet.

I purchased this system. . And I’m mad because I see it going down the drain. . Nintendo needs to step it up

@4 Thanks, it’s okay though, we hadn’t posted it before and I put a disclaimer saying that the demo was old above. I’m sure our readers will enjoy it regardless as many of them seem keen on the game :)

@5 – “I’m sure our readers will enjoy it regardless as many of them seem keen on the game”

With the remaining readers throwing their toys out of their pram as it’s on Wii U! :)

    ^ Lol. +1

Really, its a Wii U exclusive, and people should just deal with it. Buy Wii U if you really want to play this, or don’t. Platinum has themselves said the game would never have been made were it not for Ninty.
    But its teh internet.

I don’t get the wiiU hate. I got one over Christmas along with a PS4. We’re not diehard Ninty fans but we do like to have variety with our gaming.

The wiiU has had about 10x more gametime than the ps4 so far. It’s just been on family games, granted, but I just picked up Zelda HD so that’ll be another 30 hours or so, as well as grabbing a couple of classics on the store which I’ll be giving a solid play through.

I really wish people would actually get off their pedestals and just buy one.. that way it’ll become a success and I for one think it actually deserves to be. It’s everything the Wii should have been in order to be “perfect”.

@8 “I don’t get the wiiU hate”, and silkvg the sad thing is the hate torwards nintendo is going against also torwards palitinum and this game as well, which is totally undeserved, but i understand the hate, it is nintendo an it is always cool to hate nintendo and his friendly, family and funny approach.

Also Glad you enjoy your WiiU. i will get this game, bayonetta was one of my favorite new ips last gen.

Now I’ll show why the Nintendo/WiiU hate.
The “game wouldn’t have been made without Ninntendo” is a lie/bait that many ate brainlessly.

That’s Game Informer editor for you.
The news slipped under radars but it has always been there.

@8 That same logic would apply to devices like Vita and Xbone as well. All of them are worth playing in someones eye’s but they are equally as worth bashing in others.

@8: Really? The system that has been out for over a year has more games to play than the system that was released 2 months ago?

No one is on any high horses or “pedestals”. Hate is a universal thing not something exclusive to Nintendo, Wii U, Xbox One and PS Vita loved & hated by some/many. No universally praised product is loved by everyone either theres always one or a small group who are haters or in nicer terms a small group who dislikes it. But they usually have a viewpoint for it, like it or lump it.

The moment we get out of “it is exclusive to Nintendo” in regards to criticism & hate & apply logic to all is the moment….. Whatever moment you want it to be. Bottomline: it isn’t exclusive to Nintendo.

No, but there is a reason why people go on about it more in Nintendos case.

    Wii U

Have all sparked ‘Nintendo are doomed’ reactions (or go third party or whatever). It is a ‘thing’, wether you like it or not. Other companies can lean on other divisions for better or worse. It’s more pronounced for Nintendo as they are the last true games company.

    #17 12 months ago
  18. Legendaryboss

I know doomed and Nintendo is thing, i’m just stating it isn’t exclusive to them besides Nintendo have been around since 1889 and thus have more products (11) and experience (100+ yrs) than the other two. Granted most of that time wasn’t strictly as a games company like today. PlayStation Platforms = 6. Xbox Platforms = 3, not as much platforms to doom as Nintendo’s. Plus like you said the other two have divisions to fall on, so those are the only logical reasons why concern is placed so much on a very experienced, game only company like Nintendo.

But this doomed thing isn’t exclusive to Nintendo. PS Vita, PS3 and PSP have been doomed at a point, a former PSP developer even said it was (Hint 1886). Xbox One has been slaughtered since day one: doomed, failed, DOA etc, etc: you name anything negative and Xbox One has been called it.

Hate, doomed and failure is not synonymous with just Nintendo, it is more common usually with or without merit.

@10 Ever think that just maybe who ever was going to publish it had to back out because they didn’t have the money to do so?

So much for your under the radar news.

Oh please SEGA backed out because SEGA. If that makes sense.

Just saying, I see many more Wii U doomed articles than Vita is doomed for example. Let’s just use Vg247 here, since that is where we all comment.

Both consoles doing poorly, without a proper check, I’m pretty confident there are more Wii U is doomed articles than Vita on VG247… What do you think?

I don’t recall… ’3DS is getting this game, Vita isn’t’ articles for example. Or ‘XXX developer said Vita is shit’…

I may be completely wrong here so gladly prove me otherwise. I’m not talking sales figures btw, more opinion and critical analysis.

Remember, both consoles are in poor shape commercially (they both are, in reality, fantastic, with great titles worthy of purchase).

    #21 12 months ago
  22. Legendaryboss

    LOL What?

The reason for it is because there is more Wii U is doomed material than PS Vita from important individuals giving VG247 more to work with. Not as much doom to work with.

Just for comparison sake. You see what i see at the bottom?
God forbid anyone clicks on Page two, point is they have their share of doomed on the internet.

“3DS is getting this game, Vita isn’t’ articles for example” No, but replace 3DS with Wii U and…

If you opened this up to the internet instead of VG247 it would be a breeze to link dozens of articles. But that would be depressing.

  23. monkeygourmet

I’m purposefully using VG247 as an example, I already asked you to list the potential negative Vita stories (that are available) vs. The negative Wii U stories (that are also widely available)…

Which are covered / reported here? (Like I said, let’s remove sales)

You may just come to the conclusion it’s ‘positive’ to bash the Wii U.

Nintendo’s ‘struggle’ has become quite the ‘talk of the town’.

Btw, any ‘devs’ calling out the Vita in those articles? Again, genuinely interested.

Bayonetta 2 looks good, doesn’t it?

  25. Legendaryboss

I’m not scanning through two/three years worth of PS Vita & Wii U negative articles on VG247 at this time, it serves no purpose.

I came to the conclusion it is only natural to hate products coming from the big three or any business, not just Nintendo. I never stated it was positive to bash Wii U, thats your conclusion. I came to the conclusion hate and doomed is not synonymous with Nintendo and is usually more common with or without merit. Nevertheless it happens with all products, some more common than others. Like i said the moment someone implies criticism and hate is exclusive to Nintendo is…

Nintendo’s struggle? Talk of the town? Really? Are you for real?

In that VG247 article PS Vita is indeed mentioned by a dev. Type in “Nintendo is doomed” and then “Sony is doomed” in google and check the results number if you want to see how many doomed articles there are in comparison.

    Again: Isn’t exclusive to Nintendo.

Why does every Nintendo article have to devolve into a bitching contest about the hardware?

Nintendo’s hardware isn’t selling great. We get it. It has great game. Hurray.

Bayonetta does indeed look pretty great. This will probably be the game that finally convinces me to buy a Wii U, but I’ve already sworn to myself that I won’t touch any of the new hardware until I finally upgrade my PC.

I feel you’ve tried to compartmentalise all the companies in the vain hope of looking impartial. As I said earlier, Nintendo throws your utopian view of media equality for a loop because we have been here many times before.

History is repeating itself… (For better or worse the don’t go with the flow)

Nintendo are often singled out, and the news stories bare evidence of this. You don’t want to search through VG247? Then why are you posting links?

Are you in or out with this one? It’s obviously worth at least some of your time, and you obviously want to support yourself. So, once again… How many stories do you think have been run on VG247 that are pure opinion from random people regarding the Wii U compared to the Vita?

Is it equal? Which way are the scales tilting?

    #27 11 months ago
  28. Legendaryboss

You notice this now instead of when i originally brought it up at @14? And reiterated it throughout. All companies get hate at somepoint, it has nothing to do with being impartial. Its a fact.

Nintendo are often singled out? See @18.

I posted one VG247 link and explicitly stated why i won’t post anymore. The rest are google links. In fact why should i be searching? You are the one that is supposed to prove your viewpoint. Support myself? I have done so very well, your the one suggesting i do your research for you. This is seeming based on conspiracy thoughts rather than actuality. No it isn’t worth my time, end of.

If it isn’t equal here, its equal elsewhere. If it doesn’t exist here, it exists elsewhere. The scales are more or less equal as a whole.

Edit: Your only showcasing that this is happening to Nintendo all the while ignoring that it does indeed happen to all other products/businesses, more or less.

Looks like people forgot all the hate MS received and still receives, and all the “Sony iz DOOOOOMED, will leave console market” just a few months before, by those same people.

    #31 11 months ago
  32. Legendaryboss

And you ain’t taking the easy route in regards to me doing your research? Its the perfect word to describe what you have been saying.

Once more: This happens to all companies and is not synonymous with Nintendo, more or less. This isn’t opinion: This is a universal fact. Unless your trying to tell me this only happens to Nintendo?

I cannot reiterate this same point over and over again so lets leave it at that.
