Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer map goes medieval on your ass

Thursday, 26th September 2013 10:21 GMT By Dave Owen

Infinity Ward has revealed a brand new Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer map. It’s called Stonehaven, and it’s set in a towering medieval castle. It’s designed to provide a good mix of close quarters combat with enclosed spaces, as well as more open areas for snipers to earn their keep.

“When we’re designing maps, we have to cater to a couple of different types of gameplay and players in their habits,” Infinity Ward community manager Tina Palacios told Eurogamer.

“We didn’t want to alienate people who love to fight in close quarters, but we needed a big map. Then we looked to Europe.”

It’s definitely a big map. As well as the interior of the castle it’s grounds will also be available to fight within.

“We always want to add a variety regardless of what the story setting may be,” Palacios said. “It’s evolved a lot over time. When we first made it we thought it would maybe be just a harbour with a bunch of ships on a sandy beach. Then it became what it is now. And we like the look much better than what we had in the past.”

All Call of Duty: Ghosts maps feature an event that when triggered alters how the match will play out. In the case of Stonehaven, players will be able to close a gate and alter pathways to dictate movement around the map. There’s no word on a vat of boiling oil.

Cod 4 had best maps(second would be mw2) because you could use snipers on 90% maps, you could use riffles , SMG’s and you and it would still be balanced and fun. While almost all other cod’s maps are corridors design with SMG and spraying in mind.

the map is still garbage because there is no enviromental destruction

people can camp in a building forever

I mean you can say what you want about the cod mp but at the end of the day they are good instant fun.

I always play against randoms and go negative about 6 or 7 out of 10 matches but I still enjoy it for the most part.

Have been playing the barebones modes recently and enjoying that as there are no streaks but I still pop in and out of the odd ffa match as I like the one on one buzz.

Looks fun. True there doesn’t appear to be environmental destruction, but it is made of solid stone…

@1 D’awwwww, poor snipers. Having to move and shoot at the same time is so much work :P

Honestly, fuck a sniper. I agree that they’re pretty useless, but I think the level design was a massive improvement in MW2.

It kept the battles moving, and meant that you always had clear spawn zones.
