Borderlands 2 won’t get a second season pass

Sorry, vault hunters – from here on, you’ll have to buy your Borderlands 2 DLC at full price.

A Gearbox representative told Polygon that the developer has no plans to launch a second season pass for the shooter RPG, despite recently-announced plans to continue releasing content.

“Through the course of our grand experiment, we’ve also learned that fans are happy with an a la cart menu for DLC because they can pick and choose the content that they most want to buy and really customize their Borderlands 2 experience,” the representative said.

Gearbox pointed out that by including the first Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack in the season pass it delivered greater value than originally announced. It did this to reward loyal fans, whose continued purchases have enabled further development.

“They’re voting with their wallets – and we are grateful that there are enough of them asking that we can justify the cost of developing the content,” the spokesperson said.

At PAX Australia, Gearbox announced several new pieces of Borderlands 2 DLC.

I’ve only just gotten the season pass & it’s already useless for anything starting with Krieg which I was only semi interested in.

PC Master Race never has to pay full price for a DLC.

Asking full price for this shows disrespect for the gamers. So I’ll other wait and pay the common sense price or pirate it.

You get cheap DLC as it is and because they don’t want to give it to you any cheaper and at “full price” you would pirate it. And then talk about them showing disrespect to gamers, a company that has offered a ton of DLC to an already great game?

    Some gamers…
