Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag trailer makes its debut

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag casts you as an ocean-faring ancestor of Assassin’s Creed 3 protagonist Connor. Check out the debut trailer and prepare for a year of ceaseless nautical puns.

The trailer was scheduled to release later today, but was brought forward after it leaked this weekend, along with word of a next-gen release in late October.

Egregious leaks have troubled the new Assassin’s Creed game, but its official reveal is only hours away now, at which point we’ll have a full report for you.

They couldn’t make a pirate game that wasn’t AC?? Ugh.

Well … wish the gameplay was like how the trailer is. We’re not there yet so I’m not impressed.

A “ceaseless discharge” of nautical puns.

I feel like putting the 4 in the title is misleading, just there to placate people, when really this will be more like Brotherhood and Revelations than another full sequel. The subtitle is telling.

On the other hand, Brotherhood was great.

They needed to add IV in title because new number means new protagonist.

@6 How do we know that? Stay positive until we know otherwise, that’s my rule anyway :)

@8 A lot of people around here would benefit from that mentality.

I am looking forward to this though. Piracy + AC + Naval battles = Good times.

Not more bloody boats :(

Weakest part of the AC franchise to date, by a country mile. Guns I can just about put up with, but not bloody boats.

I think the ship combat was excellent. Probably my highlight of the game.

@14 & 15: REally? You didn’t find the controls clunky, or the whole thing more a case of blind luck than skill?

@16 Some of the battles were frustrating but that was more due to the 100 % synch thing then the clunky controls. And yes,it actually requires skill unlike the “press 1 button” combat and parkour. And the weakest part of the AC franchise is by far the encyclopedia of the common man…my god that was tedious…yes it’s even worse than tower defense thing in Brotherhood :) .

Wow, this game is amazing! I can’t wait for it to come out! I just watched a gameplay footage of it here:

I think this wasn’t yet released to YouTube (please correct me if I’m wrong), so you need to download it. The gameplay starts at 1:53.
