Crytek’s Warface receives five million registered users in Russia

Crytek might have taken a punt by moving towards free-to-play titles, but Warface seems to be exceeding expectations in Russia. The studio has announced over five million users have registered in the country alone.

The upcoming title recently received the Best Online Game prize in Russia’s Runet Awards.

“Reaching the five million registered users mark speaks volumes about the quality and appeal of Warface,” said Vladimir Nikolsky, Vice President of Warface publisher, Mail.Ru Group Game Division. “With a combination of first-class visuals and gameplay that is second to none, Warface stands out from the crowd and promises to attract even more attention from players in the future.”

Trion Worlds have hopped on board the US and European release as co-publisher, although a release date is yet to be confirmed.

Does this count the other European users registered as Russian?
Cause I know some of my friends played it, and they’re definitely not Russian.

Even in Russia there are plenty of gamers who thinks this game is shit. And for you to know, is famous for unfair marketing and messing with numbers. It’s possible that Warface is not even half as popular as they want you to think.

Well, there are constant ads for this game on Russian TV, that’s for sure. I’d rather hear active users number. People may sign up, try, say “wow what a piece of trash” and leave.
