Phantasy Star Online 2 free-to-play for Japanese Vita users

Sega is taking no chances with Phatansy Star Online 2. The game will be free-to-play for all Japanese Vita owners from launch. If you don't fancy spending out on the PC or console versions, a limited handheld outing might do just the trick.

Free Vita players will only be able to link to PC players in certain areas. They also cannot connect to the game in an offline capacity. The free version is linked to the PSN account that is on each memory card.

Right now, Sega has given no word as to whether PSO2 is free-to-play in the US or Europe.

Thanks, Joystiq.
