Modern Warfare 3 Content Collection #2 to debut Face Off mode, due May 22

New maps, new spec ops missions, and a whole new multiplayer mode will feature in the next content drop for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

G4 reports Face Off Mode is intended for small, intense battles, with maps optimised for groups of one versus one or two versus two.

The smaller maps, which provide constant sight lines, allow limited groups of players to enjoy the intensity of battle found on more populous maps. Two such maps, Aground (a shipwreck off the coast of Scotland) and Erosion (skirmishing in the ruins below an erupting Mount Vesuvius), will release for free on May 15, ahead of the Collection.

Several standard maps will be included in the Content Collection - Getaway, a beachside mansion in Brazil, and Lookout, an observation post in Afghanistan. The Sanctuary and Foundation maps already available through Elite will be included, as will an brand new beach resort romp called Oasis.

On the spec ops side, Ironclad follows on from the solo campaign's Hamburg mission, and includes a tank battle. Killswitch,is a brand new map in a Russian dockyard.

Content Collection # 2 hits Xbox 360 on May 22; PlayStation 3 and PC release windows are still to be locked down.

The first content collection released in March on Xbox 360 before hitting PlayStation 3 in April and finally PC this week.
