Start the fight: MS confirms November 6 date for Halo 4

Microsoft has announced a November 6 release date for Halo 4 this afternoon.

Halo 4 will release on Tuesday, November 6 for Xbox 360, Microsoft announced today.

The date announce was first rumoured this morning by The Verge.

“We are beginning a new saga with ‘Halo 4’ and embarking on a journey that will encompass the next decade of ‘Halo’ games and experience,” said Microsoft Studios boss Phil Spencer.

“Millions of fans worldwide have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to step back into the boots of Master Chief, and with ‘Halo 4’ leading the charge, we’re confident 2012 will be the most successful year in Xbox history.”

No date had been given to the first chapter of the new Reclaimer Trilogy since its announcement at E3 last year beside a holiday 2012 launch. Until now, anyways.

Microsoft’s released a special video of Rooster Teeth’s Red vs Blue series to celebrate the announce. Get it below.

@1: oh yes. Couldn’t be more hyped for this. Replaying Halo 1 now (Anniversary in 3D). Truly a great game.

@1 halo is one of the best gaming franchises of this world imho. it was a benchmark in fps and esp. for fps on consoles. the gameplay is close to perfection and it has a great story and universe with lots of potential for even more great stories. so yeah i still care about halo, even more than for many new or newer ip´s. in many ways halo hasn´t been matched yet. i played all the halo games and consider myself a fan. i do not own a 360 anymore though (kind of a problem if you want to play halo right?). i actually thought i could give the master chief and halo in general a rest after reach and cea…and continue with the huge (no doubt awesome) new bungie project…the more i hear about halo 4 though, the more i am sure that i will pick up a cheap used 360 again and a brandnew copy of halo 4 this fall/winter :-)

I think Halo could do with growing up a bit.

Becoming a bit ‘darker’…

You know… A bit less Tim Burton’s Batman, and a bit more Dark Knight.

I like the first Halos for the exact reason that they have a colorful art style and everything, hated Reach for it’s darkish theme.

Odst was both ‘mature’ and ‘colorful’.

@10: hehe. yes it is – i like it like that. i can understand that you don´t but i really love it that way and hope they wont change too much about it. that clean colourfull look is just halo to me.

@11: i also liked the odst vibe a lot.

lol! Oh, ok then… I suppose millions of people must like it the way it is.

Well, they should at least put a ‘gritty’ filter in the settings or something.

Does nobody see the problem with that date?

Isn’t it awefully close to the next Call of Duty Game? Of course we don’t have a date on that one but CoD was allways a early November Game.

What in the World happend?

Is Microsoft trying to piss of Nintendo with its WiiU Launch in Q.4 2012?

They will hurt their Sales badly…

Nintendo want the Core to buy their new Console and MS and Activision launches their biggest Moneymakers.

Oh boy… That’ll be an interesting fight to behold. Can’t be to good for the relationship between MS and Acti either.

I doubt Halo or Cod will impact WiiU sales.

It’s happening on US election day. I’d LOL a bit if this, in some form, actually cost Obama the presidency.

In all seriousness, it’s going to be a crowded holiday season anyways. That for dayum sure.

#9 Oh good. Just what we need. 6 year olds playing platform wars and linking to ‘gay’ videos.

Someone moderate this crap. It’s embarrassing and unwarranted.

Before anyone tried to flame me, I will say this. Halo 1 was a ground breaking game for home consoles. It more or less kick started online gaming on consoles, and without it, I do not think online console gaming would be where its at now.

Whilst the game was great in that respect, it still had its flaws. The game play was great, the story was too, and the music is still some of the best scores I have ever heard in a game.

But this is the fourth instalment of the series (the fifth if you count ODST, or the sixth if you count Wars or the SEVENTH if you count Reach).

I just do not think the same formula can win this time around. I hope they have kept the same things we loved about Halo but expanded upon them as well. I just have fears that 343 Studios will be too scared to take the plunge and add their own spice to the series. I believe they will just rehash old mechanics, and keep everything more or less the same to appease the hardcore fanboys of the series.

This is NOT good, as whilst Halo had a lot of good things going for it, the game play by the third game had gotten very stale and far too predictable if you ask me. Whilst I dont think its gotten as stale of the COD series has now, I just hope they add more stuff to it, and create a game we can all start to love all over again.

Take Batman:AA for example, they tried their hardest to make a great game and it showed, then with Batman:AC they expanded on the great formula of the original and made it even better.
