Beachhead working on customized tablet application for CoD: Elite

Friday, 13th April 2012 14:21 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Beachhead has said now that it’s finished “working furiously” on the mobile app for Call of Duty: Elite on Android and iOS, it’s next project was to start on a app for tablets. However, don’t expect it to be a port of the mobile application according to product director Noah Heller.

“We’re working on a tablet application right now,” Heller told The Guardian. “I can’t tell you that much about it, but I can tell you it’s a totally, customized app for the tablet, not a simple port.

“The whole website is built in HTML5, so you can go to that on a tablet, and it will look fine. But to make the apps on a tablet, it was about making the most of that real-estate and that landscape.”

When asked if the app could contain live heat-maps, similar to the offering on consoles which players can open to show spawn points, movements, camped enemies, and more, Heller refused to say stating he couldn’t “say anything about that.”

However, if the tablet app is similar in some ways to the mobile offering, it may allow users to change their loadouts “on the fly” no matter where they are located and send them straight to their game at home.

What it includes remains to be seen though, and while there a release window wasn’t given, just know it’s being worked on.

Since the service launched with Modern Warfare 3 in November, Activision’s releasing 24 DLC drops – after it promised 20 – and over 7 million free members use the service. It also boasts 1.5 million subscribers to the full, premium service.

Beachhead has said now that it’s finished “working furiously” on the mobile app for Call of Duty: Elite on Android and iOS. Serious? They are kidding, right? What about update the app, the app is so outdated.
