Street Fighter x Tekken DLC is on all discs, Capcom confirms

Capcom has explained its inclusion of Street Fighter x Tekken DLC on-disc by citing the need for compatibility between those who own the added content and those who don't.

“The character information and files were intentionally included on retail versions of the PS3 and Xbox 360 game to save hard drive space and to ensure for a smooth transition when the DLC is available, allowing players who choose not to purchase the content the ability to play against players that did,” the publisher told MCV.

The PlayStation 3 version of Street Fighter x Tekken includes three on-disc exclusive characters, while two more are available as DLC through the PlayStation Network. 12 further characters will be exclusive to the Vita version, although all are expected to become available in the home console versions.

“More specifics regarding pricing, dates and other additional exciting DLC plans for Street Fighter X Tekken will be shared at a later date," Capcom added.

Interestingly, the publisher also made mention of the fact that it does not intend to release an "Ultimate" version of the game, as it did with Marvel vs Capcom 3, instead releasing all extra content as DLC; some MvC3 fans felt cheated by the need to buy another disc to get all the characters.

Street Fighter x Tekken launches this week on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The PC version is due in May while the Vita release is expected in northern autumn.
