Yakuza 5 to visit a second city

The next entry in the Yakuza series will revisit Kamurocho, but also take in a second city.

Andriasang harvested a few snippets from Japanese blogs covering Sega creative Toshihiro Nagoshi's latest Nico Nico broadcast, in which he revealed he's looking at Sapporo, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka as potential settings for the game alongside Kamurocho.

Kamurocho is a fictionalised version of Kabikicho in Shinjuku and has been the series primary setting since inception.

Nagoshi played coy on how many characters the game will feature, and whether we'll be able to switch between protagonists, but said it's "unthinkable" to have a Yakuza game without long-time hero Kazuma Kiryu, describing him as "Mario-like".

Although he didn't suggest the upcoming game is a prequel, Nagoshi did confess he'd like to make a game visiting the franchise's history.

Yakuza 5 is expected to appear in the West as a PlayStation 3 exclusive, but no release date has been set.
