DICE: Battlefield 3 beta attracted 8 million users

DICE has revealed some impressive statistics from the Battlefield 3 open beta.

Posting an infographic on the Battlefield Blog, DICE mused on the real world implications of the massive numbers it collected.

"Did you know that if we had an empty 9mm casing for every shot fired in the Open Beta, we would have enough brass to melt and build almost 3,900 SU-27 Flanker jets?" the developer asked.

The 8 million players racked up 1.5 billion kills, among other startling figures. See the full infographic below.

Battlefield 3's beta came under heavy criticism but has since been strongly defended as an old build.

Expect the shooter on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 next week. Golly.
