Battlefield 3 beta entry explained in layman’s terms

Friday, 23rd September 2011 16:56 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

For those who may be a bit confused over how to get into the Battlefield 3 beta, since there are three different options, DICE has decided to explain things a bit via a handy FAQ.

Whether you are a PC, PS3, or Xbox 360 user will be one of the determining factors in your admission to the beta, which runs September 29 through October 10.

Those who pre-ordered the PC digital download version of Battlefield 3: Limited Edition on Origin, or who have registered a first-hand copy of Medal of Honor: Limited Edition or the Tier 1 Edition prior to July 26, get early access to the beta on September 27. If you purchased the Medal of Honor Limited Edition from Steam, you will have early access granted as well. To view your key, go to Medal of Honor in your Steam library, and click the “cd key” link. Find the “Battlefield 3 Open Beta early access” key.

Xbox 360 and PC users who meet the above requirements, will be sent an email with instructions along with a personal early access code. Note your code and follow the instructions. PC users will have to redeem the code via Origin, while PS3 users who meet the requirements will not have to wait on an email notification, as the beta will automatically appear in the PSN Store.

To redeem your code on Origin, after the client is installed, run it and log in with your Origin ID, which is the same as your EA account ID used in Medal of Honor. In the Origin client, click the gear icon in the top menu bar, and then select “redeem product code”.

If you are still unsure of what to do, click the link.

Battlefield 3 hits the US on October 25 and Europe on October 28.

@3, This is terrible and you don’t need this at all.

I guess they are aiming for fratboys. Bad idea DICE. Bad idea.

I remember reading that if you did take part in Alpha and also/then pre-ordered from the outlets listed above, then you will still get into beta.

um…wtf was that audio vom of a trailer. Terrible.

So, for the beta then just to check: you take this part here, and fit it through that hook there, (no, there!) before taking the other string here, encircling the doohickey there, looping through the original, and crossing the two over there before tieing securely, and then, you find a beta access!

No,you pre order like all games nowadays and you get beta access or a free dlc or map or skin..This is normal now.
I dont like it but all the sheep that preorder or pay for limitedISH editions have brought this whole shitty way of game buying bollox upon us all.
Its the way it is now,we are all guilty in some respect.Deal with it or stand tall, boycott preorder or it will get worse and worse.
The future of sheep, public, idiots.Stand up or lie down, either way you will be shit on.

It costs nothing to preorder a game. You just click preorder or you go to a store and they take your name you come in and buy the game. There are no drawbacks to preorder. I guess you are mad that Mommy and Daddy don’t allow you to preorder?

With this Beta stuff you can essentially try out the game and decide if its worth it if not you cancel your preorder. I know it super hard to call someone and tell them to cancel your order.

I don’t see an explanation for the people who don’t have MOH. I thought there was gonna be a open beta for everyone to download?

Wait this only concerns the early access to it?

I also had the same question as you: if this is about early access to the beta, then everyone else can just download it if they want, on Sept 29th?
(Steph could have replaced all the ‘layman terms’ explanation with “Got stuck with a copy of MOH? No. wait then!” :p)
